Blyth PeeWees put end to
losing streak, take 3 wins
Brussels Tykes put on quite the
show in Hensall Saturday morning
with their strongest game of the
season. With three full lines of
players and adrenaline pumping, the
young team worked hard and
showed much enthusiasm.
Brock McLean showed off his
talent and determination with two
goals. Brody Tenpas also kept the
team alive with a single goal,
making that his second goal of the
season. Mitchell Kellington had a
great shot on net however it was
stopped by the Hensall goalie.
.Although they were quick on the
puck, the team unfortunately ran
short of time and goals, losing 7-4.
A special mention goes out to
Shawn Dale who stood in goal for
his first time this year.. He saved
many shots and Was kept busy by the
Hensall team.
Brussels
Bantams
conquer
Milverton
The Brussels Bantams enjoyed a
solid victory over a visiting
Milverton squad Dec. 4.
After a scoreless first period Matt
McClinchey put his team on the
board in the second with two quick
goals. Matt White, Nathan Prior and
Shayne Cochrane claimed the
assists. Cochrane, less than a minute
later, set up Chris Jutzi for the hosts'
third goal of the game.
Milverton managed to sneak one
by the Brussels netminder finishing
the middle frame behind by two.
The visitors closed the gap shortly
after the start of the third, but with
two quick goals by Adam, McClure
in the dying minutes Brussels
claimed the victory. Assisting on the
first was White and Steve Ropp. The
second goal was an unassisted effort.
The Blyth PeeWees threw off a
three-game losing streak, carrying
their winning ways into December
as they captured three wins in one
week.
They were fired-up for their
meeting with Ripley in exhibition
play, Nov. 25.
Blyth played a very good game
against a Ripley squad of even
strength, and was able to win the
battles along the board and in the
corners.
Goalie Sean Cook played an
outstanding game, coming up big
when the team was short-handed late
in the third.
Blyth struck first when Curtis
Robertson got the puck to Derek

Atom Dogs
in tourney
The Blyth Bulldog Atom. Rep
team had a busy weekend playing in
the Wingham Regional Silver Stick.
The first game pitted Blyth
against Ripley. Blyth came out on
the winning end with a score of 3-2.
The next game against Mildmay
found Blyth winning with a score
again of 3-2.
Blyth faced a tough squad from
Lucknow and knew they had to win
or tie to go on to the semi-finals.
Lucknow battled to a 5-3 score to
retire the Dogs' hopes of future
Silver Stick play.
Blyth team members are Grant
Sparling, Sheldon Reid, Collin
Whitfield, Matt Popp, Colin
Bokhout, Tyler Middegaal, Dallas
Pennington, Lucas Cooke, Michael
Mcbowell, Tolson Carter, Adam
Cronin, Trevor Raynard, Tyler
Black and Kirby Cook.
The team is coached by Chad and
Mike Haggitt and Kirk Stewart.
• The next few Monday nights are
home games at 6:15 p.m.
Youngblut in the opening frame.
Robertson then added one of his own
;before Ripley broke onto the
scoreboard. Mat Stevenson assisted.
Robertson scored his second of
three in the middle period, with
assistance from Roman Sturzengger,
to put the home team up 3-1.
Ripley drew to within one in the
third before Robertson completed
his natural hattrick on a solo effort.
John McDowell topped off the Blyth
tally, for the 5-2 win. Thomas
Lecomte and Youngblut assisted.
The squad showed another strong
effort two days later when they
travelled to Zurich.
Though it took them well into the
second half of the first period to beat
the netminder, once they found the
key they would not relent. Blyth put
the puck in the net four times in just
three minutes and 19 seconds.
Scorers were Youngblut, Ken
Plunkett, Robertson and McDowell.
Assists were earned by McDowell,
Tony Bean, Lecomte and Stevenson.
However, Zurich regained their
feet in the second, tallying one and
holding Blyth to a single from Lee
Watkins. Robertson and Lecomte
assisted.
The victory was secure with the 5-
1 lead, though Zurich held the squad
scoreless throughout the third period
thanks to great play by the home
team's goalie.
The streak continued on Dec. 2,
when Mitchell came to town.
Goals from Robertson, McDowell
and Lecomte put Blyth up 3-I after
one period. Assisting on the netters
were Jordan Smith, Robertson,
McDowell and Sturzenegger.
McDowell added one in the
second and Robertson topped off the
Blyth scoring in the third before
Mitchell tallied their second of the
game. Youngblut and Bean assisted
the Blyth scorers.
The squad worked hard for the 5-2
win.
The PeeWees play every Monday
night at 7:30 p.m.
The Tykes will be playing in Blyth
next Saturday morning at 11 a.m.
In Brussels' second game of the
weekend the Tykes went head to
head with Seaforth. Kellington
showed great defencemenship
helping out goalie Mitchell Kraemer,
who made many a great save.
Bryce Armstrong tried hard to
push the puck over the red line,
while McLean's breakaways were
rubbed out at the blue line several
times. Wyatt Ducharme skated hard
to make something happen to help
the team out but was met in defeat:
Tanner Cardiff and Hayden
TenPas dug hard on their line to get
the puck out of their end but
Seaforth was too strong.
Andrew Patton waited patiently
for a pass to break to their net but
was denied.
Despite Brussels' hard play and
great sportsmanship Seaforth
claimed the victory.
