It was an evening of celebration,

the 25th anniversary of receiving
their charter. Organizer of the event
was Lion Al Bosman.
Sponsored by the Biyth Lions
Club, 24 Londesboro and area men

Today, Wednesday, Nov. 27 the
Happy Gang Seniors are holding
their Christmas dinner meeting at
Londesboro Community Hall. It is a
catered meal to begin at 12:30 p.m.
Attendees are . reminded to bring
along aft item for the Huron County
food bank.
At the recent official board
meeting it was learned that
Londesboro United Church is solely
responsible for the 35-acre plot of
land near the co-operative's
elevators at the east edge of the
village. Carmen Drost was in charge
of using the field for the Foodgrains
Bank and the crop taken off is
Groups gather
The Betty Cardno Centre in
Clinton was the meeting place on
Nov. 20 for the Cheerio Club.
Dorothy Johnston opened the short
business part of the gathering with a
poem, A Child's Hand. Betty Fisher
was welcomed by all as a new
member. Gloria McEwing won the
lucky draw prize given by
Genevieve Allen.
For the Dec. 11 meeting members
are to bring an article for the food
bank.
Londesboro United Church
Women met on Monday, Nov. 18 in
the Sunday School room. Each year
at this meeting the ladies make tray
favours for Christmas Day to be used
by the Clinton Hospital and the
Meals on Wheels prograin.
Kern Whyte guided the ladies
through the steps involved in making
hanging fabric ornaments to be used
on the trays.
Stewardship was the theme of the
time of devotion conducted by Helen
Dale, Gail Lear and Joan Whyte.
What we do with what God has
given us is stewardship, they
explained.
A pie chart was used to show how
much of the United Church's
missions dollars is used for the
various areas of its work. It was
surprising to learn the majority of
mission and service givings are
actually used right here in Canada
and not overseas in other countries.
Gail Lear read a story titled
Mother Theresa the Wino, and Me.
Me was a reporter who was able to
use Mother Theresa's example of
seeing Christ in everyone to help
someone else.
later).
Although there are only 13 current
members in the club, they continue
to be a strong presence in the
community. Members from
Londesboro continue their
involvement with Lions
International in their new
communities.
Present that evening to be a part of
the festivities were district officials,
former members and/or their wives,
Lion members and their partners
from Londesboro, Clinton, Auburn
and Blyth. They perused displays
and scrapbooks in he upper hall
while enjoying appetizers and
refreshments.
Reconvening downstairs for
dinner current president Lion Ian
Hulley welcomed everyone. Head
table guests were District Governor
Betty Jean Finlay (Tiverton club),
Vice District Governor, Andy
Klonikowski (Palmerston club) and
expected to show an $11,000 profit
to be matched four times by the
government.
However, Carmen had much
difficulty finding help with the
work. Between, now and seeding
time, consider offering him a few
hours of your time with this
worthwhile project.
As givings to the Mission and
Service Fund have fallen short of
this year's objective, Dec. 1 has been
designated as M and S Sunday at
Londesboro United. Dave Williams
will be in charge of the service that
morning.
Ladies of the church and
community are invited to attend the
UCW Christmas potluck evening on
Monday, Dec. 2. The 6:30 p.m. meal
will be followed by a variety of
Christmas numbers. Donations for
the women's shelter would be
appreciated that evening.
The annual White Gift service will
be held on Sunday, Dec. 8,
conducted by Dave Williams.
Carl Stevenson is the Londesboro
United Church's caretaker for the
month of December.

The musician, Les Brown, offers
the quote for this week's virtue of
confidence at Hullett Central Public
School. "Shoot for the moon. Even if
you miss it you will land among the
stars."
Kelly Stevenson and Laura Snell
offer some news items from the
school's activities.
The Grade 7/8 class took part in a
"first aid on the farm" course on
Wednesday, Nov. 13. They felt they
had learned lots in the event of an
accident.
Science projects on helping the
environment were worked on by the

A lot of time and interest was spent
on the projects although some
projects weren't successful.
On Nov. 26, all senior music
students will begin their anniial
chocolate sales. The school will also
be selling day planners in these
weeks until Christmas. Proceeds

clarinet, a baritone, a new electric
piano and for busing to the
Walkerton Music Festival.
Their goals are ambitious so
perhaps everyone will say yes to a
purchase from the boys and girls.
