THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 27:2802.'RAGn1. Gre% Central Echo
Students attend performance at Square
On Friday, Grey Central's Grades
4-8 enjoyed a wonderful
performance of Anne of Green
Gables at the Centre in the Square
in Kitchener.
Highlights of this musical
included the live orchestra in the
orchestra pit and the extensive
involvement of- young perfor-
mers.
Students reported that it was a
very powerful performance which
brought out strong emotions in the
actors and their audience. Seeing
this musical made students want to
take in similar cultural events.
Thanks to Mr. Payne for
organizing the trip and the many
staff and parents who accompanied
students to the performance and
provided supervision.
This week, the volleyball teams
will be travelling to their
tournaments to compete with other
area schools on Wednesday, Nov.
27.
Miss Henry will be taking the
girls to Brussels Public School,
where their tournament will be held
and Miss Hill will be taking the
boys team to Wingham Public
School to compete.
In Mrs. Bowler's kindergarten
class they learned the letter R. They
really enjoyed listening to rainbow
songs and poems. They made
rainbow rhythm makers. They
created roll-on rainbows using
paint.
Both of Ms Van Bolhius's SCC
classes have been working very
hard this week, starting and
finishing many activities. The
primary class has begun rounding
numbers in math and is now doing a
novel study on Stuart Little by E.B.
White. They are also celebrating
Ashley's birthday which was on
Nov. 23.
The older class recently
celebrated Scott's birthday which
was Nov. 21. They have just
finished a math unit on patterning
and algebra and have made wooden
models.
Mrs. Goodall's -Grade Is made
five green-and-speckled frog
counting books. They did a
Christmas word list and a pizza
party theme day with a pizza snack.
They are learning letter soul* with
silent e endings. They call it nasty
little "E"!
In Miss Hill's class there are two
new students from Mr. Park's class,
Kelsey and Allison.
Mrs. Taylpr's Grade 3s are
learning about seeds and plants.
The Grade 4s are learning about
light.
Mrs. Murray has left school this
week to stay home and take care of
herself and the baby that she is
expecting. We.wish her well on her
maternity leave. She is due the
second week of December.
Thanks very much to Ms
Ferguson, Mrs. Campbell and Mrs.
Burnfield for supply teaching for
Mrs. Murray.
The Grade 6s are learning about
compound words in spelling, flight
in science and the Wendat group in
social studies. They are also reading
the book Silverwing by Kenneth
Oppel in literature.
The Grade 5s are working on the
body in science and the government
in social studies.
Both classes are doing volleyball
in gym; multiplication, division,
addition and subtraction in math;
first-aid in health and writing
fantasy stories in language
arts.
They had a music test last
Wednesday on notes
