A THANK YOU FROM
CLARA PERRIE.
Having just celebrated my 90th
birthday, I feel I should express my
gratitude to several folks. First of
all, I want to thank all my children,
relatives, friends, and former
students who helped me, celebrate
my birthday. Your cards, flowers,
gifts, phone calls, best wishes and
visits were much appreciated. In
particular, I am very thankful to my
son, David, and his wife, Joan, and
my daughter, Jeanne, for
organizing my birthday party. A
vote of thanks is also due to Nellie
Van Bakel, who assisted them. As
well, I am very grateful for kind
neighbours in the Cranbrook,
Brussels, and Walton areas, who
remembered me and conveyed
greetings. Special thanks to the
following dignitaries, who sent
birthday wishes: Prime Minister
Chretien, Governor General
Clarkson, Premier Eves, Lieutenant
Governor Bartleman, MP Steckle,
MIPP Johns, Mayor Lin Steffler and
her husband, and former Reeve
Leona Armstrong and her husband.
In addition, I feel that certain
medical professionals have greatly
assisted me in recent years. I thank
my regular physician, Shawn
Edwards, in this regard, as well .as
all the other doctors and nurses
who have helped me at the Seaforth
Medical Clinic and at Seaforth
Community Hospital. I am grateful
to Dr. William Spink and his wife,
Claudia and their staff for
providing me with good dental
care. Thea Trick is certainly to be
thanked for aiding me with regards
to footcare. My regular homecare
helper, Margaret Exel, (and her
substitutes, when she was away),
have done much to maintain the
"homefront". Without the
assistance of all these folks, my
quality of life would be much
poorer. Many thanks to them all
and many thanks to our Risen Lord,
Who is the Great Physician! 43-1p
PLETCH. I would like to send my
sincere thanks to all my family,
friends, neighbours and co-workers
who were so supportive during my
recent stay in hospital. Thanks for
the visits, phone calls, flowers and
cards as well as all the delicious
food sent to the house. Thank you
so much to Karen and Doreen for
all the "child-transport" provided.
Special thanks to David for the
wonderful job done "holding down
the fort" and to Scott, Meagan, Ben
and Amelia for being such great
helpers. To Mom, Dad and
Meribeth, a huge thank you for
being so close and "on call" for
anything that was needed. Mom ...
words cannot express enough
thanks for all you have done. I am
greatly blessed. Thanks again to
everyone. - Melanie. 43-1

McDONALD. I have struggled
over the right words to express my
thoughts on being chosen Citizen
of the Year. It is truly an honour to
be recognized for the contributions
we make in the community but we
do not do it alone. I thank all those
who work and volunteer for all the
groups, committees and
organizations that build and bind
the Brussels and area communities
together. I thank those who
submitted nominations, the
selection committee, The Citizen
for the lovely plaque and
presentation by Sheila Richards and
all those involved in planning the
surprise social evening and
presentation at the Brussels Legion.
Thanks to all who attended for the
many kind words, cards, flowers
and gifts to my friends and family
for their support. This is a
wonderful community to be part of
and I am proud to be a member of
the Brussels-Walton community. -
