From all reports the Witch's Walk on Saturday evening was a great success. There were many kids out for the earlier walks and a lot of people participated in the adult walk. Congratulations to the organizers and their committees and helpers. Jamie Craig spent the weekend with his Aunt Deb and Fred Hakkers and boys and his grandparents Don and Marilyn Craig. • Greeting at Blyth United Church on Sunday, Oct. 20 were Lavern and Erica Clark. Ushering were Shirley Fyfe, Terry Richmond, Karen and Brett Glousher. Guests musician was Margaret Kai. Greetings and words of welcome to the 148th anniversary of the church. and the 40th anniversary of the present church building were given by Rev. Dr. Eugen annerman, minister; Lavern Clark, chair of the official board and Brenda Brooks, clerk of session. Cecil Wittich (1970-1982, 1998, 1999) gave the -congregation greetings and best wishes from himself, Sharon and family. Greetings were read from other former ministers by Joan Clark and -Lorna Fraser. They were from Rev. Ken Bauman (1983-1987), Rev. Lorenzo Ramirez (1987-1993), Rev. Jock Tolmay (1993-1994), Rev. Stephen Huntley (1994-1998), and Rev. Ernest Dow (1999-2000). Rev. Bannerman expressed Rev. Evan McLagan's (1960-1964) telephone message that had been received that morning. The children of the Sunday School sang Happy Birthday _ and lit sparklers on the cake. They then went down to Sunday School. Dramatized scripture readers were Jennifer Williamson, Aleisha Dale and Amellia Carter-Brown. Rev. Bannerman gave a short history of the 148 years of the church. He presented Muriel and Boyd Taylor with a copy of the book J.B. Taylor's Diary which he had prepared from J.B. Taylor's diary which Boyd had loaned to him. J.B. Taylor was one of the founding fathers of the church of Blyth. Rev. Bannerman invited the congregation to pick' p a copy in the narthex on their way out. Rev. Wittich repeated the prayer of Thanksgiving for the church and the Lord's Prayer was repeated in unison. Letter to the editor THE EDITOR, Congratulations to the organizers of what hopefully is a yearly event. The Witch's Walk held this past Saturday was a blast. We attended both the kid's event and the adult walk. The fun was evident in the hundreds of smiling faces we saw. After church everyone was invited downstairs for lunch and a time of fellowship.
