THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2002. articles for in this week of Halloween the big kids always get ideAs, so help them and get your junk away. Some of the "good old days" stories make it very clear that times have not changed very much -- only the articles and people at hand. So instead of complaining about the youth today, think about your favourite Halloween story and share it with a kid. Next Saturday perhaps! Pop in at Just For You and see Rene playing store again. She'll sell you a flower and a house tour ticket at the same time. The tour thing is a very popular fundraiser in recent, years and the neat part is that every house and every decorating crew make each stop unique. So set aside some time on Nov. 8, 9 or 10 to see the United Church as well as five homes decorated in fine attire as you support our main street. • Memories were strong this week as the clerk's office at the corner of Mill Street was demolished. Stories of council over the years were reviewed and like everything else I'm sure the tales improve with age, but they are worth a thought or two. Remember when Jack Thynne did his column (before spellcheck was invented) and the brunt of his pencil was often council. Be sure to tell Joe and Greg a tale or two, it will make their East Huron job a little easier and with about the same amount of thanks. Our snowbirds are starting to pack up for warmer places. Have a nice winter. We'll see you in the spring. It was good to see Richard and George wandering about the village as they too prepare for a stint south before heading back to their home out west. The recreation committee are planning an evening of remembering and celebration. Our community centre is 25 years old. Oh my, how the time flies. Get your ticket for Dec. 7 and remember, and celebrate all the work and community effort that put that building in its place. We certainly live in a place of blessing. The land, the weather, the people, the work ethic, the generosity of , time and the community involvement that are ours for the receiving. sometimes we take all this for granted. Don't. If you think communities like ours just happen, think again, and start to do your part to make it continue. We live in a very special place. Bye now, Betty G. W.
