HURON/PERTH COMMUNITY LEGAL CLINIC
The Huron Perth Community Legal Clinic is a new clinic that provides legal services to low
income community members in Huron and Perth Counties. The is currently seek-
ing a Community Legal Worker to complete the clinic team.
The primary role of the Community Legal Worker is two-fold: to educate, organize and
assist individuals and community groups on legal issues affecting them; and to provide
legal education and information to communities in Huron and Perth Counties; and to assist
with legal cases,
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Knowledge of issues and legislation that particularly affect members tit
marginalized groups,
• Demonstrated ability to design, deliver and evaluate educational programs,
• Experience working with individuals, groups and services in Huron and Perth
Counties; community organizing experience is an asset,
• Excellent research, organizational and communication skills; computer
literacy essential,
• A degree/diploma in social science/work, (or equivalent) preferably with a communi-
ty development and/or social justice focus,
• Demonstrated experience with preparing information and reports for staff and board 01
directors,
• Demonstrated ability to work with a team, with and without supervision,
• A valid driver's licence and use of a vehicle.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Designing and delivering the clinic's educational programs, developing
information/resources and undertaking the clinic's outreach strategy,
• Providing legal information, consultation and resources to organizations, individuals
and community groups in Huron and Perth Counties,
• Meeting and problem-solving with individuals, groups. scrviL,e providers and advo-
cates on legal issues,
• Preparing information and reports,
• Gathering information and compiling data,
• Assisting clinic lawyers and staff with case files, case preparation and other duties as
necessary.
Annual Salary: $44,000 plus benefits
