She went on to acknowledge that the applicant might he interested in attracting a commuter population, She also said that the question (of economic activity) was "a bit of a chicken and egg situation." Of the several residents in attendance only Don Chesher spoke about the proposal. He had several questions about the subdivjsion proposal and the planning process. He expressed his concern that the proposal would have a negative impact on the value of his nearby home and property. He said he did not want a subdivision of "little square boxes" built to minimum standards. He worried that the houses might be built on 'spec' and sit empty for a long time. Chesher also wondered if there might be added costs to the ratepayers if the water and sewage infrastructure needed to be changed. He expressed considerable skepticism about the quantity and quality of the information available about the proposed subdivision saying, "I want the truth and facts and I'm not here to be impressed." Deputy Mayor Bernie MacLellan advised Chesher that the sewer and water costs for the subdivision are borne by the developer and added to. the cost of the new properties. He went on to say that whether the homes were built on 'spec' was really a business decision on the part of the developer. Keith McMillan made a presentation on behalf of Acre T Farms. He said that they "looked at a lot of ideas and think they have come up with some that will work. He was quick to admit there were a number of things that need to be looked at but said, "I think this can be a good development if we (Acre T) do our part." Fisher pointed out that what the subdivision looked like was not decided at this stage. She went on to point out that the only question being addressed was. "Is it a good planning decision to allow this area of Brussels to be changed from agricultural to residential?"
