KNEwir Brussels Village
IVIik Market
To our valued customers.
As you know, Scripps Pharmacy is not dispensing
prescriptions effective immediately.
We are currently trying to resolve this situation and
are working diligently to return this service to Brussels
and area.
However, we still offer the same full variety of
drugstore related items including pain relievers,
cough and cold remedies, dental needs, vitamins
and a large variety of health and beauty items.
Please bear with us as we try to resolve this and
please enjoy our newly renovated store.

Spooky confines
Senior students from Brussels Public School scared the
wits out of visitors to the Corbetts' haunted house last week.
This is the 10th year the Corbetts have created a little
Halloween fun for area residents. Monies raised will go to
the Grade 8 trip and the Huron-Perth Bantam Lakers. (Janice

FROM BRUSSELS
Guild holds
monthly
meeting
The October meeting of the
Melville Guild was held in the
church parlour on Tuesday. Oct. IS
with 14 members present.
Jean Bewley and Dona Knight
were in charge of the devotions. The
meeting was opened with Dona
Knight leading the call to worship.
Now, Thank We all Our God was
sung and Mrs. Bewley read the
meditation, Remember to Give
Thanks. Mrs. Knight led in prayer
and Mrs. Bewley gave a reading,
Thanksgiving.
The scripture, Psalm 105: 1-9 was
read in unison followed by the topic,
Escape from the Taliban, and a
reading, What It Is Like to Be A
Christian.
For the Fruits of All Creation was
sung. The Mizpah Benediction was
repeated by all.
Leona Armstrong presided for the
business: She thanked Mrs. Bewley
and Mrs. Knight for the devotions.
Mary Carr was asked to come to
the front as she is moving to
Kitchener. She was thanked for all
her work in the church and was
presented with a gift.
The minutes of the last meeting
were read and adopted.
The correspondence was read and
the treasurer's report was given by
Jeanne Ireland.
Anyone wanting a subscription to
the Glad Tidings is to contact Helen
Elliott.
The next meeting will be Nov. 19
at 2 p.m. The Kinlough ladies will be
invited.
Jana Dodds and Mary Huether will
be in charge .
The collection was taken and the
roll call was answered by everyone
telling something they are thankful
for.
There will be lunch after the
service on Oct. 27 and a tour of the
new kitchen in the manse.
County have been great supporters
of the Festival as well as our entire
rural area. Thanks!
There were lots of social choices
again this week - lots of reasons for
another week for thanksgiving -
anniversaries, dinners, dances,
'parties and Halloween fun.
Joan Golden, our student minister,
is away on her required school
attendance in Win.lipeg, so the
women of the congregation ably
filled in to lead in worship at
Brussels United.-
Their theme was the 40th
anniversary of UCW. The work of
the last 40 years was celebrated
from a global and village view.
Names were recalled. Lives again
celebrated in their church context -
Luella, Mae, Alma, Ida, Anne,
Hazel, Ruth, Laura and others were
named.
Good job Jeanette, Joan, Doris,
MJ, Betty, Edna, Val and Joan.
Next Sunday we look forward to
the costumes of the Bible led by
Cathy Goetz and the children.
Autumn is a time of transition -
the mind moving from warm to cold
and from summer to Christmas so
each of us has our jobs. Find the
mitts, put away the garden stuff, get
out the Christmas lights, fold up the
hammock.
Oh well, summer will return but
for now enjoy the many roles and
jokes of Mother Nature!
Bye now, Betty G. W.
