We live in a great nation!
Sure, it is not perfect and there are
a lot of things that could be fixed but
I would have to say that Canada is an
awesome place to live. If as a nation
we fail to recognize that the benefits
outweigh the supposed detriments,
then we lose sight of a fundamental
principle that should not be taken for
granted.
Thanksgiving is this principle and
it is much more than a day, it is a
lifestyle and if the time is taken, the
list is quite long in the things that we
have to be thankful for.
Yet 1 wonder, how much do we
take for granted? How much that we
have and are blessed with is
considered our right instead of a
privilege?
It has been my experience that we
take things for granted until they are
found to be in jeopardy. Often the
things that are considered lightly are
only of value until they are stripped
away.
Health is one of these things. It is
taken for granted but when disease
strikes and age creeps up, more
attention is given.
In Luke 17 Jesus encounters 10
men who have been plagued with the
disease of leprosy. Their lives were
grim and their hope for the future
looked even darker. But in
desperation, in hope that this miracle
worker could relieve their distress,
they ventured out that day and
appealed for pity.
Jesus instructs them to go show
themselves to the priests and on their
way a miracle takes place and they
are healed. Out.of 10, only one came
back to express his gratitude and to
thank God for what had been done.
How easy it is to get what we want
and with little regard for the
Provider, continue on our way in
thoughtless abandon. Does it hurt
the heart of God when His children
Merkley, Winghatm who transferred
her membership to Brussels.
Sister Dolores Wheeler has
returned home from Seaforth
hospital and Sister Lorraine
take all that He has provided for
granted? Does it grieve the heart of
the Father when even the sacrifice of
His own Son was not deemed
enough for the many?
Much has been given, all has been
provided for life and for life eternal
