Get a jump on fall pruning
(MS) — Although the spring
season is best for pruning, a light
pruning during the autumn is
beneficial to many shrubs and
trees.
Some plants need preparation for
the winter, especially those with an
abundance of growth.
In the case of deciduous trees,
pruning when the leaves are off will
give you a better idea of how your
pruning will affect the shape of the
tree.
Before you start, look at the tree
from a few angles and decide wn:ii
you'd like.to accomplish. In addition
to removing the dead or crossing
branches that hinder its growth, you
may also want to change its shape,
raise the crown or open up the
centre.
