Agriculture Brussels Livestock report 135 veal on offer, holstein avg. $100 to $115 Total receipts for the Brussels Livestock for the week ending Oct. 11 were 2,499 head of cattle, 423 lambs and goats. On Tuesday the fed steers and heifers sold on a steady market. The cows sold on a steady market. On Thursday the veal sold on a strong active trade with the good calves trading at prices $2 to $5 higher. The lambs sold on a good steady trade. On Friday all stockers sold on a strong steady market. There were 364 steers on offer selling from $94 to $98 with sales to $108, Gord Hem, Granton. consigned one black steer weighing 1,240 lbs. selling to Dominion Meats for $108. His overall consignment of thirty-six steers averaged 1,416 lbs. selling for an average of $95.77. Three limousin steers consigned by Jim Howatt, Londesboro, averaged 1,275 lbs. selling to Norwich Packers for $106.75. His overall offering of nine steers averaged 1,365 lbs. selling for an average of $99.43. By Oct. 1, participants were travelling through Kitchener and Brantford before a stop in Niagara Falls. The wind-up of the eastern portion of the tour was held at the farm of David and Jean Hunt in the Niagara Region. The group flew to Winnipeg Oct. 3 where they began with a tour of a bull test station. As they travelled through Manitoba and Saskatchewan, they viewed giant murals in Boissevain, the International Peace Garden, and elk and buffalo farms as well as visiting many shorthorn breeders. One charolais heifer consigned by Melvin W. Bearinger weighed 1,245 lbs. selling to Highland Packers Ltd. for $102. His total consignment of sixty-five heifers sold for an average weight of 1,269 lbs. and an average price of $97.32. Elias M. Roy Collins, Ripley, consigned one simmental cow weighing 1,705 lbs. which sold to Aylmer Meat ,Packers for $69. One holstein cow consigned by William D. McIntosh, Embro, weighed 1,735 lbs. selling to Packerland 'Packing Co..Inc. for $69. Boschlea Holsteins Inc., Atwood, consigned three holstein cows averaging 1,858 lbs. selling for an average of $63.97 with their top cow weighing 1,760 -lbs. selling to Taylor Packing Co. Inc. for $67.50. There were 16 bulls on offer selling from $58.50 to $77 with sales to $82.50. Davidson Farms, Monkton, consigned one limousin bull weighing 1,915 lbs. which sold for $82.50. One simmental bull consigned by Dennis Dolmage, Londesboro, weighed 2,000 lbs. selling to Levinoff Meat Products for $82.50. attended the various events which were scheduled in the many communities in which the tour stopped. Though organized as the shorthorn conference, Procter said the information provided and stops made would be of interest to anyone in the beef cattle industry. There were 135 head of. veal on offer. Holstein sold $100 to $1.15 with sales to $118; Plain Holstein, $70 to $85. Bert Ross, Palmerston, bOnsigned one BWF veal steer weighing 690 lbs. which sold to J.J. Meats for $118. Two holstein veal steers consigned by Ed VanMiltenberg, Seaforth, averaged 718 lbs. selling for $117 and one holstein.yeal steer weighing 735 lbs. which sold for $111. Goats sold $22.50 to $230. Sheep sold $20 to $55.
