Eleven tables of shoot were in play
at the Belgrave Community Centre
on Friday, Oct. 11.
Winners were: high lady, Lois
Chamney; second high lady, Eileen
Miller; low lady, Jean Deans; most
shoots, Jane Glousher; high man,
Lillian Appleby; second high man,
Irlma Edgar; low man. Margaret
McVittie; most shoots. Ross Taylor.
The Belgrave WMS held its
meeting on Monday, Oct. 7 at the
home of Dini Nethery.
Margaret Siertsema opened with
the Call to Worship and used the
Glad Tidings Thanksgiving worship
service with readers Freda Scott, Ivy
Cloakey, Dini Nethery, Catherine
Campbell and Ora Bruce. Several
hymns were read, as well as
scriptures and prayers.
The secretary's report was given
by Mrs. Siertsema and the
treasurer's by Mrs. Cloakey.
Thirty-seven sick and shut-in
visits were recorded. Mrs. Siertsema
read a poem on Thankfulness.
The roll call was answered by six
members.
North Huron council at its Oct. 7
meeting passed several
recommendations from the
committee of the whole meeting
regarding recreation and facilities.
Council agreed to the re-allocation
from other recreation projects to pay
the cost of additional gravel for the
North Huron Wescast Complex
parking lot.
Also the contract for repairing the
roof at the Blyth Memorial Hall in
the amount of $19,900 and the roof
at the Wingham's Chi:dren Centre in
the amount of $1,500 plus GST was
awarded to the iowest bidder,
Morgan Roofing.
A fax machine will be purchased
for the recreation department from
Wightman Communications at a cost
of $529.
A TV/VCR for use by all
municipal departments is to be
purchased at a cost no greater than
$1,000.

A letter is to be sent to the Blyth
Heart & Soul committee
acknowledging the hard work of the
its volunteers and their commitment
to the project.

Council wants more information
on the numbers from the
municipality using the Wingham and
District Hospital before making any
decision regarding monetary
contribution towards physician
recruitment.

A letter from residents of Auburn
regarding the paving of Goderich
Street was discussed. As the hamlet
lies within three municipalities it
was agreed that Central Huron and
Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh
should be contacted to initiate
discussions with regards to the work.

Council had no objection to the
.Royal Canadian Legion Branch 420
using up to 80 per cent of non-
Nevada lottery funds for general
operating costs.

Council will place an ad in the
Wingham Regional Silver Stick
hockey tournament official program
at a cost of $75.
'Clerk-Admini nstrator John
Stewart said that this year the games
would be divided between the
Wingham and Blyth arenas.

Council endorsed two resolutions.
The first, from the County of Brant
asked the Ministry of the
Environment to develop a full-time
secondary training curriculum to
provide for the certification of all
levels of water and waste water
operators.
The second was from the Twp. of
Grey petitioning the minister of
natural resources to undertake the
necessary steps to amend the
Aggregate Resources Act.

Approval was given for Reeve
Doug Layton, Deputy-Reeve
Murray Scott and Stewart to attend
the Ministry of Municipal Affairs
and Housing annual southwestern
municipal conference. The
registration fee is $120 per delegate.

One municipal staff person will
attend the OGRA road related issues
workshop. Registration is $300.

There will be no changes to the
ward system in North Huron prior to
the next municipal election.

David Onn was appointed to the
North Huron & District Museum
board.
