I hope you had a good weekend of
giving thanks for the good folks in
your life as well as the many
blessings we so often take for
granted. Gathering at the table with
the loves in your life, enjoying the
bounty of our land is a true privilege.
Yes we have much to give thanks
for.
It was good to see the many
visitors about town, home for
recreation and visits. The first major
visit from the college and university
crowd as they make their way all on
their own is always welcome and
fun to witness.
What a good surprise! Sean
Conaboy was in town last week for a
quick passthrough to check on the
aunties of the Raymond clan. Good
memories of a childhood on Tory
Hill made my day when he dropped
in for a quick hello.
Winnie and I had many good
laughs as we tried to raise two wee
boys who were more interested in
wheels and vehicles than the high
ideals of their mothers. In that one
short visit my mind returned to the
days of Derek at the Thompson and

Stephenson Butcher Shop, Jack and
Esther's girls as very young ladies,
the "new" Senior Apartments,
orange plastic tractors and the fun of
young families.
Thanks Sean. Your mom would be
so proud of you and your life in
Cochrane.
Work has started on demolishing
the former clerk's office. The guards
and fences are up and the boards
have been applied. Now on to the
dramatic stuff. It was a neat building
in its day and it too holds some very
good stories. Just what really did
happen in the dog house?
The business association have a
deal for you. If you belong to a
group that needs free advertising or
you have a cause that needs
promotion — you have the
opportunity to use the empty store
fronts to showcase your news. This
good idea helps the store owners
show their real estate; it will make a
stroll o.i Main Street quite
educational and it will help promote
the many groups and ideals in our
midst. So get your display ideas
together and call 887-9340 to
reserve your spot.
Take care this week and keep the
mood of Thanksgiving.
Bye now, Betty G. W.

Friday night's supper of Salisbury
steak was enjoyed by all. This week
is roast pork.
The Saturday afternoon euchre
had 10 tables at play. The first place
winners were Hazel Reid and
Delores Howatt with 78 points.
Second place was Helen Casemore
and Jean Deans with 73 points. The
third place team was Viola Kirkby
and Doris McCall. Lone hand
winners were Stuart Chamney and
Kay McCormick.
Saturday evening the upstairs
auditorium was the location for the
celebration of the wedding of Nancy
Bos and Jack Perrin. Guests arrived
by bus from Sturgeon Falls.
The Sunday evening singles dance
had a good crowd enjoying the
music of Country Motion.
We could still use a person on the
euchre committee to help one
Saturday afternoon a month. Call
Marg Bennett if you could be that
person.
