M-T continues council's tax-free allowance
Morris-Turnberry council passed a
resolution at the .Oct. 1 meeting to
continue the tax free allowance for
councillors and hoard members. •
As allowed under the Municipal
Act: one-third of the remuneration
paid_ to councillors will be
considered compensation for
expenses incurred in the discharge of
their duties.
Though the number of members
on council was discussed. there was
no decision -to either reduce that
number or amend the composition of
the current wards.
Council will not proceed as part of
the county proposal for a policing
costing as the only municipalities
interested are Huron East and South
Huron..
A letter of response will be seat to
Boyd Taylor pledging council's full
support in ensuring the future of the
Belgrave arena. Taylor also noted his
interest in donating if a new floor is
needed.
Maitland . Engineering was
authorized to proceed with a master
drainage plan for the lower town
area.
A bylaw was passed for the
rezoning of Lot 8, South Part Lot 7,
Part Lot 9, and Part Lots 23-26, RP

a citizen contacted OPP over a

road when the driver veered to

Latham, 47, of Huron East lost
control, left the roadway and struck
