North Huron's operating surplus
of $211,501.18, was used to offset
taxation at the start of the year.
But while there is a substantial
amount in reserves, Director of
Finance/Treasurer Donna White
notes that most is there for specific
reasons. "There's nothing that can
be used to lower taxes."
Auditor Paul Seebach attended
the Monday night meeting of coun-
cil to present his report and explain
the changes requested by the gov-
ernment, which present a some-
what distorted statement. Seebach

pality's financial position rather
than its cash.
Primarily affecting this is the $2.4
million long-term loan for the
North Huron Wescast Complex.
"Therefore at the end of the day
whatever was left owing showed as
an expense," said White. Thus it
appears on paper as if the munici-
pality is in a deficit position, which
is nc actually the case.
Seebach also pointed out that in
the operating fund activities rev-
enue exceeded the budgeted figure
by just over $100,000.
The majority of revenue came
from taxation- with the actual
amount of $2,615,053, slightly

Mass of Christian Burial was held
at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic
Church, Wingham on Saturday at

Interment was in Wingham
Cemetery.

$2,599,722.
Stating that "nothing was really
out of line as far as the budget,"
Seebach told councillors that they
would get a clearer understanding
of where the municipality stands
financially by the reports regulary
presented to them by White.
