Cutting the ribbon

Singing for his country
Kirby Cook had the honour of singing 0' Canada at the
official opening of the renovated Blyth and District
Community Centre, Sept 21. Behind Cook is emcee for the
evening, Steve Sparling.
Giving to the cause
Several members of the Blyth Midget Bulldogs hockey team were on hand Saturday night to
present Heart and Soul Chair Todd MacDonald with a cheque for $4,746.74.

Contributing to the fund
Heart and Soul Chair Todd MacDonald received a cheque
worth $6,300 from Thelma Johnston of the Royal Canadian
Legion Branch 420 at the Saturday evening celebration
marking the official opening of the renovated Blyth and
District Community Centre.

Honorary Blythite Ted Johns performed for the hundreds of
people who gathered at Blyth and District Community
Centre Saturday evening for the grand opening dinner and
fundraising auction
What a slice

Community Centre barbecue
Saturday evening as part of the
opening ceremonies. The
Kinsmen contributdd all
proceeds from the dinner,
estimated at $2,000, to the
Heart and Soul campaign.
Several large roasts left from
the dinner were also donated
to the auction.
Greater expanse
The newly-renovated Blyth and District Community Centre
offers skaters a larger and safer ice surface, more dressing
roorns, and improved amenities. Project Manager Paul
Jackson told the hundreds gathered for the opening
ceremonies Saturday night that this was one of the best
projects he had ever worked on in his years of constructing
more than 40 arenas. Prior to the official opening, the
community was invited into the building to tour the facilities
and look over the items up for auction.
