Couple advises forgiveness in marriage By Amy Zoethout Lucknow Sentinel .vtql1 Forgiveness is one of the keys to a long happy marriage, according to Mary and Cyril Boyle who celebrated their 50th anniversary on Sept, 10. "You have to be ready to forgive and forget." said Mary. "You have to he understanding." "If you have a problem, sort it out yourself instead of walking away from each other." advised Cyril. Family and friends gathered at the couple's West Wawanosh farm recently to help them celebrate their anniversary. It was .at a dance in St. Augustine where Cyril met Mary Phelan of Blyth. They began dating then on Sept. 10, 1952, were married at St. Michael's Church in Blyth by Mary's uncle. Cyril's best man was Mary's Though Ashfield-Colborne- Wawanosh council had budgeted just $52,000 from the transition board funds for the renovation of the cold storage shed at the Colborne shed depot, a higher tender was accepted. Council reviewed two quotes at the Aug, 22 meeting, both were more than $5,000 above the allotted amount. However, Pegg Construction's bid of $57,380, including taxes was approved. The additional funds will be taken from the municipal restructuring fund. The recently-adopted burning bylaw caused some concerns for residents, impelling two to attend the meeting. Tom Dickson of Port Albert questioned council about burning brother Lewis Phelan and Mary's maid of honour was Cyril's sister Bernadette Boyle. The couple moved to the Boyle family farm on Glenn's Hill Road where Cyril has lived all his life and where they raised their four children; their son Michael and his wife Sharon Logel of Calgary. Marie and her husband Tim Reinman of Grosse leaves in the fall as well as the fire pit specifications. Mary Donlevy of Port Albert spoke on the same issue. Council agreed to revisit the matter after contacting neighbouring municipalities to determine how bylaws differed. Letters will also be sent to those who wrote to council about their concerns. Byron Black, representing a delegation from Loyal Line, spoke to council about the poor condition of the road. Council said the road was on the list to be paved. Council will apply for a JEEP grant from the government which helps municipalities prepare for emergencies.
