THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2002. PAGE 21.
Walton ball teams play in numerous tourneys
Baseball dominates the Walton
news this week as all the Walton
teams were involved in tournament
action.
The Walton Brewers participated
in the Goderich tournament on the
long weekend in September and did
fairly well. They played Friday night
against the Wroxeter Rippers and
won 8-5 with Mike Nolan hitting a
home run.
On Saturday afternoon they lost in
the last inning to Innerkip Smoke 5-
4 with Ryan Sanders hitting a home
run in the losing cause.
Sunday morning put them against
Innburg and the game ended tied 4-
4.
Due to having better plus/minus
runs, the Brewers advanced to the
semi-finals on Monday morning.
They played the Innerkip Juniors
and defeated them 8-7 to advance to
the B Consolation Final. The
Brewers faced a team from
Kentbridge and played well but lost
3-2 in the final.
The Brewers played in the
Huron County Fastball League
year-end tournament hosted in
Exeter this past weekend. They
played Saturday morning against the
Goderich Gators and won 6-4. They
went on to play the Exeter Braves
and lost to them 8-7. On Sunday
morning they again played the
Goderich Gators and defeated them
again 8-7.
They advanced to play the Zurich
Rangers and lost 8-0 to eliminate
them from further play. They
finished fourth overall.
Members of the Walton Brewers
include Jeff Robinson, Paul
Dolmage, Matthew S hortreed,
Darryl Houston, Scott McDonald,
Steve Knight, Brad Knight, Mike
Nolan, Doug Dietz, Ryan Sanders,

Congratulations to the Brewers for
a great season.
The Walton Ladies Slo-pitch team,
the Walton Wonders, participated in
the year-end slo-pitch tournament
hosted in Brussels.
They played Saturday morning
against the Belgrave Classics
and were defeated 21-6. They
played against the Castaways in
game two and fared better with a 20-
8 win.
The game against TFA was a good
one with the Wonders defeating
them 20-13.
Advancing to the B championship
final against the Ethel Diehards the
girls came out batting hard. A home
run by LecAnn McDonald set the
pace for a 21-4 win for the Wonders.
It was a long, hot day for the
teams. Congratulations to all the
teams in the league for a fun year.
Members of the Wonders include
Glenda Morrison, Sherri Taylor,
LeeAnn McDonald, Lisa DeJong,
Dianne McCallum, Monica Cronin,
