I have to apologize for not having
Auburn news for several weeks. I
was blessed with visitors from
Montreal i Brampton, Toronto and St.
Thomas. Mainly I only see these
people once a year, so it is very
special visiting time for me. I'll try
to do better in the future. •
I have also had the pleasure of
recent weddings of three
grandchildren. I guess we are all
growing older.
The Walkerburn Club plans to
meet at Deanna Snell's home at 1:30
p.m. on Monday, Sept. 16. It will be
nice to be back together again.
. Guest speaker at Knox United on
Sunday, Sept. I was Robert Parr, a
teacher from Clinton whose father is
a minister. Bernice Gross was the
organist for the day.
Holy, Holy, Holy was the opening
chorus. Mr. Parr gave the call to
worship with the congregation
replying.
The hymn 0 Worship the King
was sung followed by prayer of
approach by everyone. The Lord :s
Prayer was then given by all.
New Every Morning was sung.
Scripture was read from Romans 12.
The reading from Matthew 16 was
on how Jesus began to show the
disciples how the future would be
for him. Also that people who
wished to follow Him must taken up
his cross and follow his teachings.
0 Love That Will Not Let Me Go
was sung.
Mr. Parr gave a sermon on
Conquering Evil with Good. In daily
lives people see both good and bad.
It is up to God's people to destroy
evil and let good reign.
There are unexpected calamities in
this world, he said but God's people
must follow his teaching and help to
prevent mishaps. "It is good to know
that God is always with us."
Mr. Parr closed with prayer.
The closing hymn was Christ is
Made The Sure Foundation.
The Sunday, Sept. 8 meeting at
Knox United was in the charge of
three young people from local
churches. Their topic was The Good
Samaritan.
Bernice Gross was the pianist and
the opening hymn was Worship
Lord.
The young people gave an
excellent account of Going Forth as
God's people.
The second hymn was sung by the
young people with a tape recording.
The final congregational hymn was
Lord, Lift your Name on High.
The congregation was reminded
that there is an important meeting
following church next Sunday and
everyone should stay.
The congregation thanks the
young people for giving an excellent
worship service.
A congregational meeting is to be
held after church on Sunday, Sept.
15.
