(Vicky Bremner photo) I have to apologize for not having Auburn news for several weeks. I was blessed with visitors from Montreal i Brampton, Toronto and St. Thomas. Mainly I only see these people once a year, so it is very special visiting time for me. I'll try to do better in the future. • I have also had the pleasure of recent weddings of three grandchildren. I guess we are all growing older. The Walkerburn Club plans to meet at Deanna Snell's home at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 16. It will be nice to be back together again. . Guest speaker at Knox United on Sunday, Sept. I was Robert Parr, a teacher from Clinton whose father is a minister. Bernice Gross was the organist for the day. Holy, Holy, Holy was the opening chorus. Mr. Parr gave the call to worship with the congregation replying. The hymn 0 Worship the King was sung followed by prayer of approach by everyone. The Lord :s Prayer was then given by all. New Every Morning was sung. Scripture was read from Romans 12. The reading from Matthew 16 was on how Jesus began to show the disciples how the future would be for him. Also that people who wished to follow Him must taken up his cross and follow his teachings. 0 Love That Will Not Let Me Go was sung. Mr. Parr gave a sermon on Conquering Evil with Good. In daily lives people see both good and bad. It is up to God's people to destroy evil and let good reign. There are unexpected calamities in this world, he said but God's people must follow his teaching and help to prevent mishaps. "It is good to know that God is always with us." Mr. Parr closed with prayer. The closing hymn was Christ is Made The Sure Foundation. The Sunday, Sept. 8 meeting at Knox United was in the charge of three young people from local churches. Their topic was The Good Samaritan. Bernice Gross was the pianist and the opening hymn was Worship Lord. The young people gave an excellent account of Going Forth as God's people. The second hymn was sung by the young people with a tape recording. The final congregational hymn was Lord, Lift your Name on High. The congregation was reminded that there is an important meeting following church next Sunday and everyone should stay. The congregation thanks the young people for giving an excellent worship service. A congregational meeting is to be held after church on Sunday, Sept. 15. Londesboro United Church will have their annual pork roast dinner, Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Londesboro Hall. Tickets are available from Joan Goodall 523-9021 and Carl Stevenson 523-4910.
