For reasons of safety and conservation the mill is dismantled and put in storage after each reunion for the safety of children playing in the area throughout the year. A group gathers a few days before the event to put the machine together. Although the Thresher Reunion's resident sawmill is too large to do much travelling as was often done in days gone by, others much like it would have been available to come to the farm and turn trees from the bushlot into lumber for the home. The mill, which shows spectators what it It is one of the most entertaining and amazing shows at The Huron Pioneer Thresher Reunion, particularly for anyone who has every attempted to train a dog. Jim Clark puts his team of border collies through their paces as the dogs attempt to round up an undisciplined flock of sheep and some very funny Indian runner ducks. Hurrying from one side to the other, reacting to the movements of the flock and their trainer's voice and whistle signals, the Aux. holds soup and Continued from A-18 p.m. For those looking for a sit-down meal, the Legion Ladies Auxiliary will provide a soup and sandwich lunch, upstairs at the auditorium, from 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m, Friday and Saturday. A full meal will be laid on for supper from 4:00 p.m.- 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday. The Blyth Lions Club will take over on Sunday providing both lunch and supper fare. If you arrive early in the week both Blyth's Trinity Anglican Church and the Auburn United Church will begin serving on Wednesday evening. Trinity Anglican will offer bacon-on-a-bun and Auburn United has a variety of sandwiches, chili and pies. The Town and Country Support Services will be scooping out the ice cream to help reunion goers stay cool. , If a light snack will do then Blyth United Church will be serving up the coffee and muffins. - Early risers can get their day off to a good start with a pancake breakfast at the Blyth Firehall. Beginning at 7:30 a.m. and running until 11 a.m., the firefighters will serve dozens of pancakes, several pounds of bacon by steam engines, which come from across -the province. The 54-inch blade can be powered by steam engines which range from 10 to 75 horsepower. Which engine is used depends on the hardness of the logs to be sawn. With pine, a smaller engine will do but for woods such as beech, the big machines move in. The whine of the huge blade changes as it bites into a log and the sawdust starts to fly. It is not hard to imagine yourself a hundred years in the past getting ready -to erect a new barn. The logs are sawed to rough lumber and are then used for the construction of furniture. well-trained dogs soon bring order out of chaos. Originally used to aid shepherds in their lonely task, the border collie has become popular because of its intelligence and good nature. The demonstration is held on the soccer field, north west of the campgrounds. The shows take place on Friday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., on Saturday at 11 a.m. and 3:15 p.m and on Sunday at noon and 3:15 p.m. sandwich lunch and sausage and pour gallons of orange juice and coffee.
