As the young kid on the block, Lowe said
he has never been treated with anything but
respect from the older Association members.
"There has never been any sense that this
whippersnapper should be put in his place.
They are a great bunch of people.. They all 2002 Executive have so much experience and I get the feeling
they'were happy to have someone new."
Lowe would like to see more young people

interested in the Association. "The Threshers
seem to be having less new members and the
older ones aren't able to do as much as they
once could. I was glad to step in because they
need young people to carry this on."
The commitment is minimal. Lowe feels,
as far as volunteerism goes. "It's a few
meetings a year and one week of big
commitment. And the benefits are so much
self-satisfaction and the chance to meet a lot
of people from all over the province. The
Reunion itself is a good time."
Any idea that the Reunion might be a little
corny for people of his age, is a notion Lowe
finds no merit in. "You hear the name and
you might think boring, but once you're in
the gate there's So much to learn and see. You
learn without even being willing to learn."
"And there's lot of good food." he.adds.
It is fun for all ages at the 41st Annual
Huron Pioneer Thresher and Hobby
Association Reunion, Sept. 6-8 in Blyth.
There are special events for adults as well
as children on each day of the weekend event
and numerous displays and exhibits to
entertain and educate.
Student from local public schools will visit
the fairgrounds Friday morning to
participate in special activities as well as
have the opportunity to learn from the
masters as they demonstrate such things as
shingle cutting, rope making and horse
handling.
The children's special activities on
Saturday and Sunday afternoon are generally
geared to those 10 years and younger though
some older children may be included.
Children's games will begin at 2 p.m., at
Radford's ball diamond.
There will be prizes awarded for all events
and there is no cost to parents.
Youths between eight and 15 will have the
opportunity to get involved in the antique
garden tractor pull on Saturday and Sunday,
