Students get hands-on
learning at Reunion
The school program for elementary
students at the Huron Pioneer Thresher
Reunion and Hobby Show is sure to offer a
different approach to learning about the past.
Betty Battye, a well-known educator from
Blyth took over last year with an eye for
teaching the students more about what goes
on at the Reunion.
"The reunion has a lot to offer as a learning
tool for the students," she said. They can
learn about pioneer farming methods and the
gradual change to machinery, from steam
through oil, gas and electric.
"Through the use of demonstrations,
participation in pioneer style activities and
suggested points of focus, we hope to build
an appreciation of life in the last century,"
said $attye.
Way too much energy
The kids games offer youngsters a chance to burn off some energy with active,
•old-fashioned fun like the potato sack race.
