Sports
It was the opportunity of a lifetime
when nine-year-old Greg Dodds of
East Wawanosh won a chance to not
only meet Bobby Orr and Cassie
Campbell. but acquire a little hockey
knowledge from them as well.
Dodds entered a contest advertised
in The London Free Press for the
Chevrolet Safe and Fun Hockey
Camp, thanks to his uncle Doug
Walker who pointed it out.
Open to all six to nine-year-olds,
Dodds was one of 4,500 entries and
one of the luck 90 to he chosen.
The camp, which ran Aug. 8-9,
was held at the Western Fair Sports
Complex, focuses on safety while
having fun.
Both on and oll"-ice sessions were
included kir the players as well as a
seminar just for their parents on
keeping hockey fun. This was
presented by Orr and Campbell.
For Dodds, a goalie, one of the
highlights was being on the ice with
Campbell taking shots at him, even
if she scored, said Dodds' mother
Kim Walker. "Greg said she is an
awesome skater."
Unfortunately, Orr was not able to
participate in the on-ice aspect
because he was just recovering from
another knee surgery.
"Greg had a fantastic time." said
Walker. "Not only did he meet two
celebrities. hut received autographs
on his iersey, blocker. hat and
