HURON COUNTY HIGHWAYS DEPARTMENT proposes to apply the
herbicide "DyCleer 480" Reg. No. 19157 under the Pest Control Products Act (Canada)
on County Road No's.l, 4, 8, 12, 13, 15, 17, 18, 20, 22, 25 and 31
right-of-ways for control of noxious weeds as listed under the Weed Control Act.
Application time to be the weeks of September 2nd to September 13th, 2002, weather
permitting. There will be no spraying done in built up areas.
For further information and for location of the roads to be sprayed, contact Dale Edgar,

Obituaries
JOHN WILLIAM WRIGHT
John William Wright of Brussels
passed away at his residence on
Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002.
Born in Newcastle-Upon-Tyme,
England on Oct. 10, 1923, John was
in his 79th year.
He was the beloved husband of the
late Elsie (Rowell) Wright. He was
the dear father of Bill Wright of
Cambridge and Ron Wright and his
wife Nancy of Palmerston. He was
the dear brother of Peggy Moore and
her husband Jim of Tottenham and
Elsie Largue of Newcastle, England.
Mr. Wright was also loved by his
grandchildren Steven, Jeffery and
Jennifer Wright all of Cambridge
and Andrew, Nicole and Lindsy
Wright all of Kitchener and great-
grandson Nicholas.
Friends were received by the
family from 7 - 9 p.m. Wednesday at
the Schimanski Family Funeral
Home, 401 Albert St., Brussels
where the funeral service was
conducted on Thursday, Aug. 8 at 11
a.m. with Rev. Tom Wilson of St.
John's Anglican Church officiating.
Pallbearers were grandsons
Andrew, Steven and Jeffery Wright
along with Jim Alt, Mike
Demmerling and Anthony Johnston.
Burial was at Brussels Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy,
memorial donations may be made to
the Canadian Cancer Society.
A Legion seryice under the
auspices of Brussels Legion Branch
218 followed by a Masonic service
under the auspices of St. John's
Lodge No. 284, Brussels, was
condircted at the funeral home
Wednesday evening at 9 p.m.

Thirty-four celebrants enjoyed the
Over 80 birthday party, with many
family and friends in the basement
of Knox United Church, Belgrave,
on Wednesday, July 31.
Lorna Cook, president of the
Evening Unit, welcomed everyone
and read a poem, A Sure Way to a
Happy Day.
Muriel Coultes, announced the
program, and invited Lorne
Campbell and Arnold Bruce to
entertain on the piano and violin.
Donna Shaw gave a reading of The
Quilting Bee. Don and Mary Vair
favoured everyone with a duet,
The Canadian Cancer Society is
holding a community information
session in Goderich, Aug. 15 from 1
to 3 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian
Church.
The information session will
cover Canadian Cancer Society
community services and volunteer
opportunities for those in Goderich
and the surrounding area.
A presentation will be given to let
the community know about the
many services provided by the
Canadian Cancer Society to people
living with cancer as well as to their
family and friends.
'Mr. Walter Willits of Turnberry
Twp. passed away at Wingham and
District Hospital on Wednesday,
Aug. 7, 2002. He was 90.
He was the beloved husband of the
late Jean (MacMillan) Willits who
predeceased him in 1999. He was the
dear father of Mac Willits of RR I,
Wingham, Murray Willits and Jane
Girodat of London, Bruce and Barb
Willits of Lucknow, Alan and Laurie
Willits of RR1, Wingham, and Kathy
and Steve VanEngen of Wingham.
He is also survived by his sister Eva
Rideout, brother-in-law Dean
Earngey, and 11 grandchildren.
Mr. Willits was predeceased by his
parents Melvin and Catherine
(Wright) Willits, his brother Jack
Willits and his sisters Lida Reidt and
Kay Earngey.
Visitation was at McBurney
Funeral Home, Wingham on Friday
from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. The funeral
service was held at the funeral home
on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Joan
fuchlinsky officiated.
Interment was in Wroxeter
Cemetery.
Memorial donations to Wingham
Hospital Project 2001 or Bluevale
United Church would be appreciated
as expressions of sympathy.
PEARL CATHERINE
CAMPBELL
Pearl Catherine Campbell of
Seaforth, formerly of Exeter passed
away at Seaforth Community
Hospital on Wednesday, July 31,
2002. She was in her 87th year.
Pearl Johnston was the beloved
wife of Eric Campbell and the late
Michael Williams (1972). She was
the loved mother of Joan Bettles, and
Vern Scott of Egmondville and Joe
which was followed with a reading
An Old Chinese Proverb by Mrs.
Coultes.
Ashley and Laura Higgins
entertained with their tap dancing,
and Mrs. Coultes read The New Ten
Commandments. Lila Procter sang
several medleys of old time music
and was assisted by her daughter
Jessica as they sang How Much is
That Doggie in the Window?
Following the reading of There's
Peace and Calm in the Twenty-Third
Psalm, Don Vair accompanied the
group in the singing of several
favourite hymns.
Rev. Ethel miner Clare and Rev.
Cathrine Campbell both brought
greetings and wished all those over
80 many best wishes.
Barbara Anderson and Thelma
Pletch cut the birthday cake and
Rev. Miner Clare gave the grace.
Mr. Campbell and Mr. Bruce
favoured with musical numbers as
lunch of cake and ice cream was
served to the celebrants, family and
friends.
Volunteer opportunities with the
Canadian Cancer Society will also
be shared and should be of interest
to those looking to share their time
and talent.
The session may be of interest to
our current volunteers who may be
looking for new opportun-
ities.

(O'Reilly) Johnson.

Whitney-Ribey Funeral Home,
Seaforth on Friday, Aug. 2 from 2 - 4
and 7 - 9 p.m. Mass of the Christian
Burial was held at St. James Roman
Catholic Church, Seaforth on
Saturday, Aug. 3 at 11 a.m.
Interment was in St. James
Cemetery Seaforth.
Parish Prayers were held at_ the
funeral home on Friday evening at 7
p.m.
Expressions of sympathy may be

Society, Ontario Heart and Stroke
Foundation or the Diabetic
Foundation.

MARTHA DAER
Martha Marie Daer (nee
Brodhagen) of RR1, Auburn passed
" away at Stratford General Hospital
on Friday, Aug. 2, 2002. She was in
her 94th year.
She was the loving wife of the late
Roy Daer. She was the dear mother
of Ruth Dewar and her husband
Donald of Atwood, Gordon Daer of
RRI, Auburn, the late Alvin Daer
and his wife Janet of Goderich,
Shirley Rolston of London and
Marilyn Wallace and her husband
Brian of Port Bruce. She will be
sadly missed by her grandchildren
Keith Dewar of Toronto, Carol
Dewar and Paul of Cambridge,
Karen Birk and Dave of Ayr, Mark
Rolston, Trevor Rolston, Andrea
Burrs and Kevin of Mitchell, Larry
Daer and Mireille of London,
Michael Daer and Nicholas Daer,
both of Goderich, Owen Wallace and
Stacey Wallace, both of London; and
by her 11 great-grandchildren. She is
survived by her sister Frieda Mogk
of Mitchell, Reuben and Mabel
Brodhagen of RR1, Brunner, and
Milton Brodhagen of RR1, Brunner.
Mrs. Daer was predeceased by her
brothers Edward Brodhagen, and
Wilfred Brodhagen, and by her
sisters Georgian Ford, and Elsie
Voll.
Martha and Roy spent over 60
years working their farm at RR1,
Auburn. She was also an active
member of the Walkerburn Club, a
long-time member of the Auburn
Women's Institute and the Auburn
Women's Missionary Society.
Friends were received at the Blyth
Visitation Centre, Beattie-Falconer
Funeral Homes Ltd., 407 Queen
Street, Blyth on Monday, Aug. 5
from 6 - 9 p.m. A funeral service
took place in the chapel on Tuesday,
Aug. 6 at 2 p.m.
Interment was in Ball's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to
Ball's Cemetery or the charity of
one's choice would be appreciated.
CLARA ELIZABETH RINN
Clara Elizabeth Rinn, formerly of
Blyth, passed away at Ritz Villa,
Mitchell on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002.
She was in her 96th year.
The former Clara Stoneman was
the beloved• wife of Hugh Rinn and
dear mother of Marjorie and her
husband Keith Rock of Seaforth,
John Rinn and his wife Theresa of
Blyth and Edythe and her husband
Elve Rock of Monkton. She was the
loved grandmother of seven
grandchildren and . 11 great-
grandchildren.
Mrs. Rinn was predeceased by her
parents Thomas and Martha (Hill)
Stoneman and two sisters Olive and
Pearl.
Friends called at the Whitney-
Ribey Funeral Home on Saturday,
Aug. 3 from 2 p.m. until the time of
service at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral
home.
Interment was at Maitlandbank
Cemetery, Seaforth.
Expressions of sympathy may be
made to the Ontario Heart and
Stroke Foundation.
Pallbearers were Ron Abel-Rinn,
Justin Rinn, Jack Holmes, Brett
Holmes, Dave Foster and Tim
Misner.

CHARLES EARL GUY
Charles Earl Guy formerly of
Ethel passed away at home in
Waubaushene on Sunday, Aug. 4,
2002. He was in his 71st year.
Left to mourn are his two
daughters Jacqualyn and Steve
Wright of Georgetown, Tracey and
Chris Edwards of Waubaushene, his
former wife Marilyn of
Southampton, eight grandchildren,
four sisters Isobel and Nelson Gray
of Listowel, Edna McLellan of
Brussels and friend Neil Hatt of
Palmerston, Lenore and Stan Prager
of California, Sharon Lukings of
London and one brother Ross of
Victoria, B.C.
He was survived by several nieces
and nephews.
Charles was predeceased by one
daughter Peggy, two sons Verne and
Douglas, three brothers Jim, Gordon
and Ivan and one sister Gladys.
A memorial service for family and
friends was held at Elma Cemetery
on Aug. 8.
Donations to the Heart and Stroke
Foundation were appreciated as
expressions of sympathy.
