Early Friday morning, Aug. 9, Jared Grant Bergsma became the youngest resident of Londesboro. You may have noticed the announcement on Grant and Sandy's lawn. Thirty-eight years ago this summer, a young groom and his bride exited the Londesboro United Church following their marriage and were ushered into a manure spreader for a trip around the village. This past Saturday you may have seen Walkerburn community has lost a good friend and neighbour. Martha, , Mrs. Roy Daer has passed away. Martha came to this district as a bride many years ago. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and active in the Walkerburn Club for many years. She will be sadly missed by the district and her friends. Deepest sympathy to the family. Lunch was served by the Walkerburn Club following the funeral on Aug. 6. A goodly number of friends and relatives were able to return to Knox and heard a similar parade around the village streets. It only seemed appropriate that Michael and Pam Radford, following their marriage should keep up the tradition. This time the complete wedding party climbed aboard and their tractor-pulled chariot was followed by Grandpa Radford's Model T Ford honking its horn. As the tent came down Sunday afternoon the title of a song from some years ago popped into mind — Wasn't That a Party? Sunday afternoon the Blyth Fire Department made a call in the village. A newly-repaired posthole digging truck owned by Mike and Tanya Merner caught on fire. The vehicle was completely destroyed but firemen quickly controlled the area around it. Well-known lay minister, Bob Heywood, will conduct Sunday morning services at Londesboro United' Church the next two Sundays, Aug. 18 and 25. United, Auburn and enjoy lunch before leaving for their homes. There are boxes in Stickers Restaurant and the post office at Auburn. These are for two bride- elects, Cheryl Lapp and Tracy Delbergue, who will be married shortly. We wish the brides and of course the grooms, a world of _happiness. Carmen and Christine Gross are the proud grandparents of twin boys, who were born recently. Mother and babies are doing nicely. Congratulations from the community. Cheryl Kim Lapp was united in marriage to Gerald Elliott DeGraaf on Aug. 9 at Bethel Pentecostal Assembly. It was a lovely ceremony with Pastor Bruce Brodrecht officiating. Needless to say the bride and her attendants looked lovely in beautiful gowns made by the bride's mother Helen Lapp. After the marriage service everyone went to Clinton Legion for the wedding dinner followed by dancing. The happy couple left later for their honeymoon. They will be residing in Drayton, Ontario. Prior to the wedding, photos were taken at the home of the bride's grandmother, Mrs. E. Lapp .at Bird Haven. Guests from a distance were present. An aunt and uncle of the bride from Holland and also Bill and Mary Lapp from British Columbia. They are her father Keith's brother and sister-in-law. Dick Lapp of London, Elliott Lapp's brother, stayed overnight at Auburn and went golf;ng Sunday afternoon with numerous family members. He left for home immediately after the game. The Knox United service, Aug. 11 was held in the church basement. The guest minister was a former Blyth minister, Rev. C. Wittich. Bernice Gross was the pianist and Shirley Andrews took the collection. Bible School is to begin and will be held this year at Auburn Missionary Church. A number of children will enjoy this service.
