The Brussels Legion Branch lost a
cheerful and familiar face in
Comrade John Wright, who passed
away on the long weekend.
He was a charming and witty
Englishman who was always cheery
to all. The Legion members paid
tribute to Comrade Wright at the
funeral home on Wednesday
evening.
Our condolences to all his family
and friends.
The Satur6y afternoon euchre
had 12 tables of avid players vying
Well we're flipping right through
August — good times, good weather,
good friends. Ah summer!
for the cash prizes. The top winners
of the day were Neil Hatt and Edna
McLellan with 76 points.
Close behind with 72 points were
Lois and Raymond Haggitt and
coming in third place with 69 points
were Kay McCreery and Linda
Stevens. The lucky lone hand
winners were Vera Ahrens and Ed
Stewart.
The Sunday night singles dance
saw around 80 enjoy the music of
country Motion. The next singles
dance is this Sunday.

The long weekend here had the
ball tournament and, as in years
past, good games and fans made it
another success. A new twist this
year as the spontaneous streaker
(who will remain unnamed) but is
still trying to collect his bets.
Aren't you sorry you weren't
there?
The Kids Corner crew sends
thanks for your children's
attendance, for your donations of
cash and food and for the offerings
that will build four cisterns in Brazil
making life much easier for folks
Saturday as friends and relatives and
Comrades all gathered to wish
Comrades Bill Coutts and Ross
Bennett a happy birthday. The two
men were 80 years young and
enjoyed an open house with light
lunch being served.
The Ladies Auxiliary catered to
about 40 family members with a
delicious roast beef dinner. They
enjoyed speeChes and
congratulatory messages from
family members.
Congratulations to Ross and Bill.
The Branch was host to the
there.
A good time was had by all.
Sunday must have been unofficial
Brussels Day at the Harbour in
Goderich for there were lots of us
there enjoying the fish (and
good chips) as well as the weather
(what's a little rain) and the Celtic
music.
Exercises continue at the pool on
Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 1
p.m. Come and enjoy yourself or
just go to public swimming and beat
the heat.
Take care, Betty G. W.
