Dr. Henning has been fulfilling the duties in an acting capacity for a number of years. She brings to the County of Huron an extensive back- ground in both public health and clinical practice. Dr. Henning received her Bachelor of Science and her Medical Doctorate from the University of Calgary and went on to study epidemiology and interna- tional health at Johns Hopkins University. It was there that Dr. Henning received her Masters in public health. Dr. Henning has worked interna- tionally with the World Health Organization and as director of Primary Care for Save the Children, Nepal. While working with Health Canada in Northern Ontario, Dr. Henning supervised public health programs in disease control and health promotion and developed and directed the tuberculosis control program for this area. "Beth is a very creative and dedi- cated public health professional. We are very excited about the increased opportunity to work together and with the community to deliver inno- vative public health services" says Penny Nelligan, director of the Health Unit. IDA EVANS Ida Clearine (Cochrane) Evans, formerly of Brussels, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2002 at Braemar Retirement Centre, Wingham. Born in Grey Twp. on Oct. 25, 1907. Ida was in her 95th year. Ida held dear to heart her involve- ment with Majestic Women's Institute, the Brussels Horticultural Society and the Brussels UCW. Ida was selected Citizen of the Year for Brussels and area in 1989. Ida was the beloved wife of the late William Evans. She was prede- ceased by her parents Sarah Margaret and Robert Cochrane and her brother James. The Over 80 Birthday Party is Wednesday, July 31 at 2 p.m. in the Knox United Church basement. During the month of August and on Sept. 1 worship will be in Knox Presbyterian Church. There will be no services at Knox United Church. Call Rev. Cathrine Campbell at 887- 9831 for pastoral care. The Campbell family reunion was held on Sunday, July 28 at the Belgrave ball park and pavilion. Games and contests were enjoyed by 48 relatives from Wingham, Waterloo, Strathroy, London, Seaforth, St. Catharines, Lucknow, Brussels and Belgrave. Ida will be sadly missed by her many friendS and family. At Ida's request there will be no funeral home visitation. A Majestic Women's Institute memorial service was held at the Schimanski Family Funeral Home. Brussels, on Friday, July 26 at I p.m. followed by the complete funeral service at 2 p.m. with Joan Golden of Brussels United Church officiating. Reflections of Ida were given by her friends Gertie Kellington and Margaret MacLeod. A solo of God Sees the Little Sparrow Fall was per- formed by Joyce Jacklin accompa- nied by piartist Grace Jutzi. Burial was in Brussels Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the charity of one's choice.
