Brussels Livestock report
Heiferprices range from $96 to $102
Total receipts for Brussels
Livestock for the week ending July
12 were 1.710 head of cattle, 762
lambs and goats.
On Tuesday the fed steers and
heifers sold on a steady market. the
cows traded steady. On Thursday,
Holstein veal sold at prices steady to
last week's market while the beef
veal sold lower. Lambs sold on a
steady trade. On Friday, calves sold
at steady prices with the yearlings
selling $2 to $4 higher.
There were 398 steers on offer
selling from $98 to $102 with sales
to $116. J.K. Gielen . Farms,
Crediton, consigned a blonde steer
weighing 1,385 lbs. sold to Norval
Meat Packers for $116, with their
overall consignment of forty steers
averaging 1,478 lbs. selling for an

ment on behalf of the Honourable
Andy Mitchell, Secretary of State
(Rural Development) (Federal
Economic Development Initiative
for Northern Ontario). The funding
will be provided under the
partnership component of the
Canadian Agricultural Rural
Communities Initiative (CARCI), an
Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada
initiative.
The project was established to
give Huron County farmers and
residents the tools they need to take
advantage of business opportunities
that arise in their community. It aims
to promote tourism in rural and
agricultural regions and to

the viability of agricultural rural
communities, particularly those
communities undergoing change
as a result of adjustment in
the agricultural sector. The

Canadian Adaptation and Rural
Development fund has allocated
$9.3 million to CARCI over three
years. Projects such as those in
Huron County support the
Agricultural Policy Framework
(APF), which was agreed to in
principle last June by all Canadian
agriculture ministers.
The APF aims to brand Canada as
the world leader in food safety,
innovation and environmentally
responsible production. One of the
aims of the APF is to develop
programs focused on the specific
needs of farmers and rural
communities and help the sector
seize economic opportunities.
