The reading, art, song and games program at local libraries
began last week with more than a dozen children attending
the Blyth Library session which runs from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m.
on Tuesdays. Crystal Parks of Clinton, pictured, and Julie
Darling of Exeter will be visiting 11 libraries across the
county. The Read Around the World program is for children

FROM BLYTH
By Mark Nonkes
Wingham Advance limes
Councillor Jeff Howson reported
to North Huron council that he had
received a lot of flack from
constituents about the new Blyth
signs.
Council decided not to pay for the
signs about 'a month ago when they
received a bill from the Blyth
Business Association. The signs
have been featured in a magazine
for attractive entrances contest.
Before the signs were refurbished,
council told the business association
there was no money in the budget to
pay for the work.
However after the signs were done
the bill was still given to council.
Clerk-Administrator John Stewart
said he attended a Blyth Business
Association meeting and stood up
and said that there was no money in
the budget for the signs. However,
Howson said people who didn't
attend the meeting complained that
there was no written report.
Stewart responded that he would
save the paper trail by just going to
the meeting and telling the group in
person.
The bill for the signs is $1,900.
The business association has asked
council to close an old Rutabaga
Festival account with $700 in it to
help pay for the signs. Council
accepted the request.
"I think it should be left as it is
now," Blyth Ward Councillor
Murray Nesbitt said.
