The gym was beautifully decorated for the occasion and graduating students all enjoyed the meal and ceremony. The many achievements of the graduating class were recognized. In addition to graduation, there were many other end-of-year events organized during the last few days of school. At assemblies on June 24 and 25, the scholastic, athletic and citizenship achievements of Grey students were recognized. the important contributions of parent and community volunteers were also recognized. On the last two days of school, the kindergarten students were joined by family members for potluck teddy bear picnics which celebrated the great achievements of our Early Years classes. During the celebrations, parents and students joined together to wish Mrs. Laura Scott a long and happy retirement. She will be missed. Mrs. Scott's classes spent their last few days finishing up activities. The kindergartens got to take home the barns they worked .so hard on constructing. During their teddy bear picnic, the kindergartens ate in the forest. On Thursday, June 20, Kindergarten C spent their morning at Shayrina Sheep Farm. The Grade is went to the sheep farm on June 21. There have been two birthdays recently. On Thursday, June 20, Tess Burnfield celebrated her birthday and on Monday, June 24, Natasha Terpstra turned six. This week Mr. Parks' class had their pen pals from Howick over to visit. Mr. Perrie volunteered to walk them through the forests. They played lots of games, took a walk through the beaver trails, then spent the rest of the day together. Mrs. Murray's Grade 4s were reviewing decimals and fractions in math as well as studying orchestra in music. They were studying rocks in science and learning about impressionist art and the lives of two famous artists. Mr. Walker's Grade4/5 class is making renewable energy-efficient cars. Congratulations to all the Grade 4/5s who ,participated in the talent show. They are doing drama games like mime and inanimate objects. This past week was Chris Broadrecht's birthday. This past Friday, there was a memorial service for Sophia Stephen- Walker. The school council planted and dedicated a tree in her memory. Mr. Walker would like to thank everyone who helped to make it happen. The Grade 6s are presenting slicleshows to share the knowledge they have gained while researching famous artists, like Michelangelo, El Greco, Leonardo Da Vinci, Monet, Picasso and Robert Bateman. The Grade 6s have learned many technical and research skills while working on this project and have enjoyed sharing the slideshows with their classmates. Several students have also had the opportunity to present their slideshows to Mr. Walker's 4/5 students, who were really impressed with their work. Most students were successful on their recent 3D geometry quiz. Congratulations to all students who did so well during the end-of-the-year spelling bee, particularly those who made it to the finals.
