Knights celebrate 50th
Ross and Betty (Fischer) Knight
celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary with family and friends,
June 30.
Betty, the daughter of Wilfred
and Ethel Fischer of Brussels and
Ross, the son of Russel and Ella
Knight of Grey Twp. were wed
May 24, 1952 at St. John's Anglican
Church, Brussels. Rev. J. Kerr offi-
ciated.
The maid of honour was Irene
Foster, the bridesmaid was Georgia
Dunbar and the flowergirl was
Shirley Fischer.
Jim Knight served as best man
with Jack Knight and Ivan Fischer
as the ushers.
The couple honeymooned in
Halifax before returning to farm in
Grey Twp.
They raised four children,
Warren, Bruce, Nancy and Mary-
Ellen.
Mrs. Knight was involved with
the Cranbrook Women's Institute
while Mr. Knight worked with the
Federation of Agriculture.
Special guests attending the cele-
bration at the couple's Cranbrook
home arrived from Cape Cod and
Australia.
Morris-
Turnberry
amends
bylaw
Morris-Turnberry councillors
approved three amendments to the
manure management bylaw at the
June 26 session.
Sectio,n 7.1.6 of the bylaw will
read "may' instead of "shall",
Section 6.8.2 will be Changed to 50
per cent from 25 per cent and
Section 10.4 will be changed from
240 days to 180 days. The final ver-
sion of the bylaw was present at the
Jiily 2 meeting.
Public Works Superintendent
Lloyd Michie reported that the
Health Unit has confirmed that all
water tests for the municipality are
in order. There had been some con-
cern that the Ministry of the
Environment might want a different
testing method.
A bylaw was passed requiring
the fencing of privately-owned out-
door swimming pools in Morris-
Turnberry.
Representatives from Frank
Cowan Insurance presented a risk
management seminar to the coun-
cillors.
STELLA MARIE BROWN
Mrs. Stella Marie Brown (nee
Benfield) passed away at Stratford
Hospital on Wednesday, June 5,
2002. Mrs. Brown was born at
Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England on
Sept. 13, 1920.
t Mrs. Brown was predeceased by
her husband the late Gideon Brown
and survived by one daughter Mary,
Vehicle
damaged
in Brussels
On June 28 at 4 p.m. OPP were
called to a residence on John Street
in Brussels over a vehicle being
damaged.
The owner told police that some-
time during the night a person
kicked the side of the vehicle caus-
ing damage to the doors and fenders
of the vehicle.
Anyone with information on this
vandalism is asked to call the OPP
or Crime Stoppers.

Burial took place at Brussels
Cemetery.
