Elementary school like a game o `Survivor'
By Leanne Elston•
Wow, we made it! It has been just
like the hit game
show Survivor.
Only instead of
being on the show
for 40 days ours
lasted nine
amazing years!
We have
outwitted,
outplayed, and
outlasted East Wawanosh. Instead of
having one ultimate survivor
though, we leave with the grand
prize of 16 fantastic friends and so
many wonderful memories.
In kindergarten the khool seemed
like our deserted island. But through
the years we got to know each other
and share fond memories. That
school become our second home.
Our friendships at East Wawanosh
grew and have become strong. We
have shared so many memories
together: playing sports, during
class, field trips and by just hanging
out. We will never forget the
friendships we have made.
We couldn't have survived school
without the teachers. They taught us
the basics of surviving in the world
(like reading and writing), but they
also taught us how to speak French,
how to perform excellent plays, how
to get along with others, how to have
fun, and other skills to prepare us for
the future.
We also cannot forget the chiefs of
our tribe, our principals. They were
the ones who kept the school under
control and they all did a great job.
There was also Mrs. Robinson
who does an incredible job at being
a secretary, doing emergency first
aid, and by just being a good friend.
Our first ride on the bus was not as
bad as we had feared because of the
helpful bus drivers. They made sure
that we got to and from school safely
and that we always got off at the
right stops. They were the ones who
made sure that the bus rides were
always fun for us.
But we wouldn't be here tonight
without the love and support of our
parents. They were the ones who
helped us with our homework when
we were stuck, who drove us to
sporting events, who made our
lunches in the morning and who
took pictures of us when we won
awards or were just having fun.
This past summer we lost a dear
friend, Mark McCracken, in an
accident. We will always remember
him by his smile, his kindness. his
funny j'kes, his great sense of
humour, and his love for vehicles.
Kathy, all of our lives have been
blessed by knowing Mark and we
are glad you are here with us
tonight.
In September this tribe will move
