On behalf of the Grade 8
graduating class of 2002, I welcome
you to share our special evening.
Wow! We finally made it! Now I
understand the saying, "Where has
all the time gone?" It seems like just
yesterday that we first walked
through the doors of Blyth Public
School. We were so small and scared;
but our fears quickly disappeared
when we saw the gentle smile of Mrs.
Buffinga. Before long, we were
laughing and having a great time.
Nobody knew how much we were
even learning.
From the very beginning, our
unique personalities were shining
through from our quiet Alyssa and
Kaitlyn to our mischievous Jeff and
Josh. And who cold forget Orie's
great sense of humour? Remember
when Orie fell asleep behind the
_....-book3helf? Now we know why our
class was so quiet.
And who could forget "Marvelous
Me"? How 'proud we felt wearing
that special hat. We thought we were
so special helping Mrs. Buffinga and
delivering messages to our Principal
Mr. Harrison.
Although we hated to leave
kindergarten, Grade I proved to be
just as special. Mrs. Battye and her
enthusiasm made Grade 1 a
wonderful experience. She also gave
us our great love
for reading.
Grade 1 was
also the start of
public speaking. I
remember
standing on the
stage. The gym
looked so big! I
glanced at Mrs.
Battye. She had
an encouraging smile on her face and
from that moment on I knew
everything was going to be okay.
Grade fended in sadness when
Mrs. Battye announced her plans for
retirement. I guess she wanted to
leave on a positive note. Who could
possibly top this class.
Now we were off to Mrs. Thomas's
Grade 2 claSs. She was famous for
her gentle manner and all those neat
songs. Remember, "I want a purple
kitty for my birthday, mom, nothing
else will do!"
Mrs. Lobb, our Grade 3 teacher,
had her own unique style from pen
pals to great big jars of yurrimy
candy.
She also like to challenge our
minds with difficult words like
triskaidekaphobia and sesqupedalian.
In Grade 4, we were introduced to
Mrs. Speed. How we loved hearing
stories about Captain Underpants.
Also we soon learned how much she
knew about computers. History
would repeat itself and we would
