The Mosquito Blyth Lightning
met their cross-town opponents, the
Thunder, June 27.
With players on the two squads
well acquainted with each other, the
game turned out to be a very close
contest .
Tools taken
from business
On June 26 at 8:30 a.m. OPP were
called to a theft at the Paul Elliott
Trucking building located on
Industrial Road in Brussels.
The officer learned that sometime
between June 17 and June 20 a
person entered the building and took,
sockets, wrenches and impact tools
to the value of $850.
Anyone who can help the OPP in
solving this crime is asked to call the
local OPP or Crime Stoppers.
The Brussels U I I squad was
quick behind the eight ball when
the Newton 2 team visited June 25.
On the first rush of the game,
Newton carried the ball to the
Brussels end and tallied their first
point.
Heather Hill showed off skilled
footwork as she played the ball
through a crowd and Emily
Warwick and Felicia Souch took
control at centrefield. However,
Brussels was unable to move the
play into their opponents' end for a
significant attack.

The Blyth Thunder Atoms earned
their first win of the soccer season
when they travelled to Clinton June
19 to take on the Crusaders.
Blyth opened with two goals
before Clinton got on the
scoreboard. Blyth rounded out the
scoring with an additional two
netter.
Scoring for the visitors were
Teryl Good, Ellen Cook and Kenny

The Thunder edged the Lightning
3-2 with goals from Adam deBoer,
Erin Moore and David Karhu.
Scoring for the Lightning was
Lucas Elgi with both goals.

goaltending for the Thunder.

Farmers find
grass in corn
Two different farmers contacted
Huron OPP over marijuana found
growing in their cornfields on June
25 and 26.
The first farmer came across
approximately 50 marijuana plants
about one foot high deep in his
cornfield just off Hwy. 21 in Hay
Twp. The second farmer who lives
off Scott Line in East Wawanosh
also found over 200 plants that were
in the neighbourhood of-one-foot in
height.
All the plants were ripped from
the ground and destroyed.
The Huron OPP appreciate the
help of the farmers for notifying the
OPP so the plants could be
destroyed and removed from the
for a streets.
