The Walton Little School held its
graduation night on Tuesday
evening at Duff's United Church.
There were lots of excited children
and proud moms, dads, and
grandparents in attendance.
The children put on the play The
Very Hungry Caterpillar. They also
sang a song or two.
The children received diplomas
for their time at Walton Little
School, then went outside for a huge
class picture. Snacks provided by the
parents were enjoyed by all.
The past week has been busy with
preparations and practice and some
learning of the new books about The
Berenstain Bears.
The summer program is beginning
for school-age children as well, and
the toddler program has started. Still
needed are any craft items that can
be dropped off at the school and any
green thumb gardeners who can help
with the garden.
Call the school for info or
Shannon.

at
Duff's
service
Duff's United Church held its last
service before holidays with Doug
and Marjory Fraser greeting
worshippers as they arrived.
Taking part in the service were
Helen Craig as scripture reader and
Brian Black singing In The Garden.
What a wonderful talent he has to
share. •
Brian McGavin and Ian Wilbee
collected the offering.
Joan Tuchlinsky is on holidays
from July I to July 28. Those
needing pastoral care are to call
Sheila MacGregor, minister at
Northside United Church, Seaforth
527-2635.
St. - John's Anglican Church,
Brussels is hosting its annual
porkchop barbecue on July 14.
Watch for information and ticket
availability.
The Food Bank is still in urgent
need of non-perishable donations
and although the church is on
holidays, there is a drop-off box
right in the foyer of the Brussels
Village Market.
The church basement has started
the renovation process. All the old
flooring has been removed and
some areas need some scraping
done. Other jobs need to be done.
Anyone who could help do some of
these jobs now, prior to painting,
and later to install the new fixtures
and baseboards after painting and
flooring is complete, please call
committee members, Monique,
Theresa, Shelley or Heidi and they
can give more details and times.

spokesperson for the Divisional
Court had said the three judge panel
recognized the urgency of the
matter but, by June 25, the court
hadn't yet returned a judgment. (See
story on page 1)
At the June 25 meeting, Gerth
essentially put the accommodation
revieev process on hold until next
fall, saying it will be easier to assess
future accommodation needs once
2002-03 enrolment levels become
more clear.
The Walton ball park was quiet
this week with only the ladies'
slowpitch playing Thursday
evening.
The Seaforth Public School held
its Grade 8 graduation exercises on
Monday evening with many local
boys and girls now moving on to
secondary school education. With
the decision being upheld by the
courts to close Seaforth District
High School many of these students
will now be attending Central Huron
Secondary School, and St. Anne's
Catholic High School, Clinton while
even a few are planning to attend F.
E. Madill Secondary School,
Wingham.
Congratulations to all these young
men and women and good luck to
them.
It was Mary Humphries' birthday
and the party girls, Viola Traviss,
Marie Coutts, Anne Ryan, Audrey
Hackwell and Marilyn McDonald,
However, in response to questions
from Seaforth-area trustee Charles
Smith, both Gerth and director of
education Lorne Rachlis left the
door open for further closures, as
well as other possible chan-ges.
Gerth told Smith that that trustees
should expect a more
comprehensive accommodation
report next fall, including the
possibility of recommendations for
change. And both he and Rachlis
agreed one of those possible
changes could be closure.
Process put on hold
travelled off to celebrate at the
Fireside Cafe. A nice meal and
afternoon was enjoyed by all.
The Seaforth Agriculture tractor
draw was a great success on
Saturday with over 2,800 attending
the dinner and evening. Lisa Brokof
and Beverly Mahood put on
an excellent evening of
entertainment.
One local winner was Gary
Bennett who won the Club Cadet
riding lawn mower. Big winners
were Jim and Karen Cronin of
Dublin.
It was a busy place at Rick and Jo-
Ann McDonald's on Sunday. An
engagement party for LeeAnn and
Jason was being held and the yard
was pretty full. A wedding is being
planned for next year.
Congratulations to Stefan
Gubelmann and Rita Mettler on their
marriage last Saturday in Macton.
