At the Branch
Happy holidays — we're enjoying
Awenda, the provincial park in the
Toanche. Sawlog Bay, Thunder
Beach area. To save you from
getting the map out, that would be in
the. Penetanguishene region on the
waters of Georgian Bay.
Ah water, a little sun, good
company with lots of reading and
relaxing time. Pretty close to
heaven.
I hope you've got your tickets for
Blyth Festival already. If not get a
look at their brochure and make your
choices. There is more than one of
the plays that will tickle your fancy
— looks like another good season.
Get your tickets and support theatre
this close to home.
Many family and friends are
Celebrating love as they attend the
showers, parties and weddings that
take note of the young love that once
again has hit our village. To each
couple, may your love grow as your
plans for your future unfold into the
reality of your dreams. Blessing to
you!
Happy 30th to Jason Gropp, guest
of honour at a birthday bash on'
Saturday.
Don't forget that Kid's Corner is
scheduled for the afternoons of Aug.
5 - 9. Bring the young folks in your
life.
Bye now, Betty G. W.

Legion looks
into smoke eater FROM BRUSSELS
Booming
The sky was lit with brilliant colours and the air filled with
explosive bangs as a good crowd gathered in the BMG
arena parking lot and at neighbouring homes to enjoy the
40-minute fireworks display put on by Huron East. (Janice
Becker photo)
Enjoying the party
Justin Pipe, right, Joel Wilkinson, centre, and Cody Subject were just a few of the dozens of
Brussels and area children who gathered at the BMG pool June 27 for an end-of-the-school-
year party sponsored by the Huron East recreation department. As well as feasting on
hotdogs, the children participated in both dry land games and wet games before having the
chance to jump in the pool on the hot afternoon. (Janice Becker photo)

The Brussels Legion's general
meeting was held on Monday
evening with a good attendance.
Major discussion was on installing a
new system for removing smoke
from downstairs area. Quotes are
being sought by Rick McDonald.
The Friday night supper of roast
pork was enjoyed by over 40 people.
Next week barbecued hamburgers
and hot dogs and salads will be on
the menu.
Saturday evening a wedding
reception for Stefan Gubelman and
Rita Mettler was held with the
Ladies Auxiliary catering. The ladies
donate part of the profits to the
Branch and it is certainly
appreciated.
Branch members are expected to
help at these functions and
volunteering would be appreciated.
The next one is This Saturday
evening for a late lunch reception.
Call Helen Dobson if you can help.
The fish fry crew was on the job
cooking fish at Lucknow Legion's
Canada Day celebrations on
Monday. Comrades helping were
Anne Exel, Lisa .Glanvilte, Rick
McDonald, Norm Dobson, Dale
Sauve, Greg Wilson and Jo-Ann
McDonald. A great time was had.
The Branch will do fish frys for
clubs as well. Call and inquire.
