Quiet week at the Brussels Legion Branch

It was quiet but cool at the Branch
this week. The Friday night supper
of Salisbury steak was enjoyed by
many. This week is roast pork.
Comrade Eric Ross has returned
from Edmonton where he attended
the Royal Canadian Legion
Dominion Convention held every
two years. Deb. Christopher, Jeremy
and Cecil Moore all went along and
continued on to the west coast after
the convention for some holidays.
The boys report they had a good trip
and lots of fun.
There was no winner for the mem-
bership draw.
Saturday evening the 25th
anniversary of Rick and Jo-Ann
McDonald was celebrated upstairs
with an open house affair, A noisy
crowd enjoyed the pictures and food.
Sunday afternoon was the decora-
tion service at Brussels Cemetery.
Comrade President Rick McDonald,
Bro. Dave McCutcheon of the
Western Star Lodge #149 and
Rebekah Lodge Noble Grand Joyce
Jacklin participated with their open-
ing, the names of the deceased and
readings.
The - clergy from St. John's
Anglican, Brussels United and
Melville Presbyterian and a repre-
sentative from Duff's United,
Walton read the names of their
deceased members.
Rev. Joan Golden, padre of Branch
218, led in scripture and prayer. The
Royal Canadian Legion service of
remembrance and the reading names
of the deceased were conducted by
President Comrade Rick McDonald.
Everyone was invited to attend
Branch 218 following the service.
Members of the Brussels Pipe
Band and Listowel Pipe Band and
the Brussels Cadet Corp participated
in the parade. As well there was a

The Huron County Library is get-
ting ready for another exciting read-
ing program to be held in 11 library
branches throughout the county.
This year, children will become
world travellers as they Read
Around The World.
Children will be encouraged to
keep reading throughout the sum-
mer months through a wide variety
of stories, crafts, games and songs.
Children ages five to 12 are invited
to pick up their passports at their
local library and join in the adven-
ture!
Program co-ordinators Julie
Darling and Crystal Park will pres-
ent weekly Read Around The World
programs at the participating
libraries during July and August.
Read Around The World provides
an excellent opportunity for parents
to offer- their children a fun-filled
educational experience during the
summer holidays. For more infor-

the Branch. The lucky winners were
the couple of Lloyd and Lillian
Appleby with 81 points. Coming in
second with 75 points were Bush

place winners were Helen and Norm
Dobson with 73 points. The lone
hand winners were Kay McCormick
and Ed Stewart.
