The Council of the Corporation of the
Municipality of Central Huron intends to
pass a bylaw to redistribute the number of members of Council among the Wards in
the Municipality for the next Municipal Election. The details of the proposed bylaw are
as follows:
1. Ward 1 (former Township of Goderich) • to change the number of members of
Council to be elected from the Ward from two members to three members;
2. Ward 2 (former Township of Hallett) - to change the number of members of Council
to be elected from the Ward from two members to one member;
3. Ward 3 (former Town of Clinton) . to remain with two Councillors to be elected from
the Ward.
4. The Reeve and Deputy Reeve will continue to be elected at large.
Council will hold public meetings for discussion and consultation with respect to those
changes on the following days:
Monday, June 24, at 8 p.m. Londesboro Hall, Londesboro
Thursday, June 27, at 7 p.m.Auditorium - Municipal. Building, 23 Albert., Clinton
Saturday, June 29, at 10 a.m. Committee Room - Goderich Township Hall, Holniesville
In addition to the above subject, Council will be holding public meetings to consider
the implementation of curbside bluebox recycling in Wards 1 & 2 and 9-1-1 road
changes within Ward 1. Council wants to hear your views on Central Huron's progress
to date and will be on hand to answer any questions or concerns you may have.

North Huron council briefs
Council accepts $2,000 tender for water fountain
North Huron council at its June 3
meeting, authorized the purchase
and installation of a water fountain
for the fitness centre at the
community complex.
The tender of Cliff's Plumbing and
Heating for a total amount of $2,000
plus taxes was the lowest of three
submitted.
Council also authorized the
purchase and installation of a diving
board at the pool from Oakville
Custom pools for the total amount of
$5,700 plus taxes. This was the
lowest of four tenders.

In addition to a $100,000
contribution to the Blyth arena
capital costs the Municipality of
Central Huron has also promised
$15,000 to the arena's operating cost
for the 2002-2003 season.

An addition to the kitchen at the
arena in Blyth was approved. Clerk-
Administrator John Stewart said that
Rick Antaya of the Ministry of
Tourism and Recreation confirmed
that the work would be covered
Morning Star Rebekah Lodge,
Brussels had a good attendance for
its June 11 meeting.
Sister Dolores Wheeler has
returned home and it was reported
that Sister Lorraine Edwards is in
hospital.
On behalf of Rebekah Lodges, the
Rebekah Assembly of Ontario
received a thank you for its donation
to American Tragedy Fund.
The Royal Canadian Legion will
hold the Decoration Service on
Sunday, June 23 at 2 p.m.
under the grant.
Stewart also said that the project
manager for the arena project, Paul
Jackson, is getting information
regarding the eco lighting and infra-
red lighting. People are saying
there's no advantage to the eco
lighting, but then you have others
saying it's great," said Stewart,
explaining why they have gone to an
independent company to find out
more.
There would be a report at the June
17 meeting of council.

Council has entered a team in the
tug-of-war competition, which is
part of the celebrations that day. A
challenge is being issued to
neighbouring municipal councils.

The court of revision for the
Whitfield municipal drain will be
held at 7 p.m., June 25 in council
chambers.

that Wawanosh Park will be open for
campers this year as a group of
campers have offered to maintain the
park.

Councillor Jeff Howson inquired
as to the progress being made with
respect to the condition of a
storefront on Queen Street in Blyth.
Stewart said that he would contact
the chief building official to contact
the owners and inspect the property
again.
