FROM LONDESBORO Salute to Sponge Bob This game at Hullett public school's afternoon of fun athletics, involved a spongeful of water and getting wet. The participants didn't seem to mind however, as they happily splashed the sponge back and forth without ever appearing to care about who was winning. Father, daughter greet at church Appropriately, a father/daughter duo, Don and Elizabeth MacGregor, received the offering at Londesboro United Church on Father's Day. On Sunday. June 16, the children found a Father's Day card in Rev. Paul Ross's storybag. The young folk agreed that they gave cards to their fathers because they love them. When asked how they could show love to their heavenly Father they agreed the best way was to live the way God would like them to. A chorus of 16 ladies, directed by organist Barb Bosman, opened the service with a medley of Sweet Jesus and Happiness Is The Lord. Later, they sang Show a Little Bit of Lore and Kindness. PEOPLE AROUND LONDESBORO Thirty-five years ago, SS#12 Culross graduated its last Grade 8 students and closed its doors to education. On Saturday, June 8 there Rev. Ross played the song, Everwhingis All Right on his flute. In the musical, Jesus Christ Superstar, this selection was sung by Mary Magdalene to Jesus, the night before His crucifixion. This number prefaced the scripture reading Luke 9: 37-43. In these verses a distraught father with an epileptic son pleads for help from Jesus. With similar words Jesus reassures the father while healing the boy. Rev. Ross pointed out that all fathers would seek help for -their children. In Ephesians 5:21 6:4, the apostle Paul has strong words about family relationships and these verses were was a reunion of all pupils who over the years of its existence had attended that one-room schoolhouse. Attending the reunion at the Belmore Community Centre were Dorothy Johnston, her sister, Dale, from South River and her sister, Mackie, from Kincardine. The girls had a wonderful time renewing acquaintances with former schoolmates and laughing over sharing memories of teachers and activities. The former schoolmates could also visit their school which has been renovated into a private home the basis for Rev. Ross's message, Fathers and Churchmen. Paul's advice to the Ephesians for a hierarchal family seems out of step with today's society, he said. Men's relationships and attitudes have evolved into shared responsibilities, teamwork and equality with their mates. The apostle Paul was encouraging men to love and care for their families as God loves and cares for His church. Christians therefore are called to serve each other with love and respect. Although men have evolved in their relationship with their families they have not always evolved in their relationship with the church. the resident of which welcomed them. I'd like to share two thoughts that in all likelihood were shared in families around the globe last Sunday, Father's Day. From children • about their parent: Though we cannot evaluate Our dad, his love, his worth, To us he'll always be "just Dad", The greatest guy on earth. And from dads about their children: The friendship that we share my child, Has brought me joy and peace.
