Obituaries
ROBERT HARVEY
McCALLUM
Mr. Robert Harvey McCallum of
Goderich and formerly of Blyth
passed away on Monday, May 27,
2002 in his 87th year.
Mr. McCallum was born in Hullett
Twp. on May 10, 1916. He was the
beloved son of the late Duncan and
Eleanor (Hoover) McCallum. Mr.
McCallum was a butcher in Blyth
and member of Blyth United
Church.
He was the loving husband of the
late Doreen (Vincent) McCallum
(1987) and Alma (Madill)
McCallum (1997). He is survived by
his sisters, Jean Grey of Kitchener
and Irene Clegg and her husband
Jack of Niagara Falls. Mr.
McCallum will be fondly remem-
bered by his nieces and nephews
Sharon Johnstone, Glenda Karn,
Randall Clegg and Brian Clegg.
A daughter Patricia, predeceased
him in 1967.
Friends were received at the Blyth
Visitation Centre, Beattie-Falconer
Funeral Homes Ltd., 407 Queen St.,
Blyth on Wednesday evening from 7
- 9 p.m. Members of Blyth Lodge
No. 303, A.F. & A.M. held a memo-
rial service at the visitation centre at
7 p.m. Wednesday evening. A funer-
al service took place in the chapel on
Thursday, May 30 at 2 p.m. Rev.
Eugen Bannerman officiated.
Pallbearers were Murray Hoover,
Don Scrimgeour, Grant Sparling,
John Karn, Randall Clegg and Ted
East.
Interment was in Blyth Union
Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy
donations to the Ontario Heart and
Stroke Foundation or the Canadian
Cancer Society would be appreciat-
ed.
CHARLIE E. JOHNSTON
Charlie E. Johnston of Beale
Street,Woodstock and formerly of
Warwick Street passed away at the
Woodstock General Hospital on
Friday, May 24, 2002. He was in his
86th year.
He was the beloved husband of
Lauretta E. Johnston. He was the
dear father of Judy Parker and her
husband Ken of Uxbridge and Jill
Helmuth and her husband Ken of
London. He was the loved grandfa-
ther of Tracy Shanahan and husband
Paul of Watford, Darcy Parker of
Boston, Mass., Yvette Simpson and
husband Erik of Houston, Tem and
Sarah and Laurel Helmuth, both of
London and great-grandfather of
Chloe Shanahan. He was the dear
brother of Flemming Johnston and
his wife Dorothy and brother-in-law
of Freda Johnston.
Charlie was predeceased by his
brother Edward and his twin brother
George.
Charlie was a life member of the
Forest Masonic Lodge #162, A.F. &
A.M. and the Oxford Chapter
Masonic Lodge #18, A.F. & A.M.
Friends were received at the R.D.
Longworth Funeral Home,
Woodstock, Monday from 2 - 4 and
7 - 9 p.m.
A Masonic Lodge service was
held Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. at
the funeral home.
The complete funeral service was
held at the College Ave. Church,
Woodstock, Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
with Rev. David Duncan officia-
ting.
Interment is later in the Oxford
Memorial Park Cemetery following
cremation.

DICK McQUARRIE
William Elwood McQuarrie of
Brussels passed away Monday, May
27, 2002 at his residence.
Born in Brussels on Feb. 20, 1917,
Dick was in his 86th year.
He was the beloved husband of the
late Jean (Nigh) McQuarrie and dear
father of Bill McQuarrie and his
wife Fran of Calgary. He was the
dear brother of Marlene Beer and her
husband Henry of Goderich, Eileen
Adams of Toronto, Peter McQuarrie
of Brussels, and Mae Hollenbeck of
Goderich. He was the dear grandfa-
ther of Mary Joan McQuame of
Medicine Hat, Alberta and Michael
McQuarrie and his wife Donna of
Drayton Valley, Alberta. He was also
loved by his two great-grandchildren
Tifanie and Justin and his close
friend Helen Wesenberg of Seaforth.
He was predeceased by his sister
Anne Hoy.
A celebration of the life of Dick
McQuarrie was held at the
Schimanski Family Funeral Home,
Brussels on Friday, May 31 at 2 p.m.
with Joan Golden of Brussels United
Church officiating.
Interment of cremated remains
was in Brussels Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy, in
lieu of flowers, memorial donations
may be made to the Heart and Stroke
Foundation.
