Caterpillar snacks served at WLS
The Walton Little School spent
last week learning about author Eric
Carle and reading the book The Vet-y
Hungry Caterpillar. They'enjoyed a
hungry caterpillar snack of apples,
oranges, strawberries, plums and
pears. They studied the life cycle of
a butterfly starting from egg to
caterpillar to cocoon to emerging as
a butterfly and made a map of the

The Walton Little School is
looking for green thumbs to help
plant and look after their garden with
them. Just call the school if you're
interested. The used clothing and toy
garage sale was a great success and a
fall one is being planned.
WLS now has The Sound of Music
thanks to the. generous donation of a
piano by John and • Judy
Swart2entruber. Things will also be
kept a little cooler thanks to another
generous donation of a fridge by
Jackie Waechter and family.

is back from her honeymoon and
into the swing of things again.
Supply teacher Michelle Blake was
a wonderful replacement while
Debbie was away.

Surprise visitors at my house were
Bob and Muriel Hart. They lived on
the 16th for years and moved to
Georgetown a year ago. They were
up visiting friends and relatives for a
few days over the weekend and
dropped in to say hello.
They like it in Georgetown except
for the traffic and Bob was glad to
see the farmers hard at work and the
slower-paced traffic. It's always nice
to see old friends and to catch up on

Manus greet
at Duff's
On Sunday, worshippers to Duff's
United Church were greeted by Jim
and Mary Mann.
Joan Tuchlinsky congratulated
Harold and Pearl McCallum on their
50th wedding anniversary, Neil and
Marie McGavin on their 40th
anniversary and Neil McGavin on
turning 65.
The scripture reader was Marion
Godkin.
Joan's reflection on Holding the
Christ-light for each other, dealt with
the essence of pastoral care. All are
responsible to help each other and to
have faith and trust in God through
the most difficult times.
The Minute for Missions was
presented by Joan and dealt with how
offerings to the Mission and Service
fund aids the Centre for the Christian
Studies. It is for students to do hands-
on work to seek justice and to spread
their passion for God's work
throughout the world.
Communion was served by Lavern
and Marion Godkin and Barry and
Karen Hoegy. Offering was taken by
John Gillis and Ian Wilbee.
This Sunday is anniversary Sunday
and the service will be held at the
home of Neil and Marie McGavin
under the big tent.
A hymn-sing will begin things at
9:45 a.m. and the service at 10 a.m.
with Rev. Jeff Hawkins from Gorrie-
Wroxeter United Churches as guest
speaker. There is no service at
B I uevale.
The WUCC meets tonight June 5
at 8 p.m. upstairs at the church.
Joan is attending a United Church
educational event in Waterloo from
Thursday, June 6 to Monday, June
10, but will be at the anniversary
service. She also will be off for
continuing education from June 10 -
16. For any urgent pastoral care
contact Brian Black.
the news.
A wonderful buck and doe
barbecue was held for Mark Nolan
and Lori Beyes at the Lee farm on
Saturday evening. Family and
friends gathered to enjoy a delicious
meal and an interesting question and
answer period for the young couple.
Congratulations to the couple on
their upcoming wedding.
Many local and area people were
in attendance to celebrate Vista Villa
Farms Ltd. 35th anniversary. There
were bus tours available to drive by
Vista Villa's three production sites
and a wonderful buffet supper was
served from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. After
dinner a video and introductions
were made and an evening of
dancing followed.
Congratulations to Bob and Rose
Robinson and their family on their
success.
The McGavin family was having
dual celebrations on the weekend as

at the Hockey Highlands Inn and

The family presented Neil and
Marie with their old bedroom
window, refinished by Heather and
made into a family tree picture. They
enjoyed hiking and swimming and a
leisure time as a family.
Congratulations to the McGavins.
Chaos erupted on main street in
Walton on Sunday evening as an
escaped sheep appeared in
village. The sheep caused traffic to
stop as it wandered up the street,
then decided to investigate several
backyards. A large dog proceeded to
chase it and was last seen headed
south of the ball park.
If spotted or corralled please call
the Lees, 887-6735.
Bill and Marie Coutts had
daughter Connie for a visit on the
weekend. She relieved them of their
dog sitting duties.
Celebrating birthdays last week
were Rob Shortreed, Sister Theresa
Ryan, Neil McGavin, Patricia
Hackwell and Bill Humphries.
Congrats!
