PAGE 9 Caterpillar snacks served at WLS The Walton Little School spent last week learning about author Eric Carle and reading the book The Vet-y Hungry Caterpillar. They'enjoyed a hungry caterpillar snack of apples, oranges, strawberries, plums and pears. They studied the life cycle of a butterfly starting from egg to caterpillar to cocoon to emerging as a butterfly and made a map of the were made they take. Butterflits made and enjoyed by all. The Walton Little School is looking for green thumbs to help plant and look after their garden with them. Just call the school if you're interested. The used clothing and toy garage sale was a great success and a fall one is being planned. WLS now has The Sound of Music thanks to the. generous donation of a piano by John and • Judy Swart2entruber. Things will also be kept a little cooler thanks to another generous donation of a fridge by Jackie Waechter and family. • Teacher Debbie (Malone) Budha is back from her honeymoon and into the swing of things again. Supply teacher Michelle Blake was a wonderful replacement while Debbie was away. PEOPLE AROUND WALTON By Jo-Ann McDonald Call 887-6570 Surprise visitors at my house were Bob and Muriel Hart. They lived on the 16th for years and moved to Georgetown a year ago. They were up visiting friends and relatives for a few days over the weekend and dropped in to say hello. They like it in Georgetown except for the traffic and Bob was glad to see the farmers hard at work and the slower-paced traffic. It's always nice to see old friends and to catch up on Feet first into summer This young man seemed happy the BMG Pool was open. The new poolheater made getting into the swim of things easier for those who attended the pool's official opening last Saturday. (David Blaney photo) FROM WALTON Manus greet at Duff's On Sunday, worshippers to Duff's United Church were greeted by Jim and Mary Mann. Joan Tuchlinsky congratulated Harold and Pearl McCallum on their 50th wedding anniversary, Neil and Marie McGavin on their 40th anniversary and Neil McGavin on turning 65. The scripture reader was Marion Godkin. Joan's reflection on Holding the Christ-light for each other, dealt with the essence of pastoral care. All are responsible to help each other and to have faith and trust in God through the most difficult times. The Minute for Missions was presented by Joan and dealt with how offerings to the Mission and Service fund aids the Centre for the Christian Studies. It is for students to do hands- on work to seek justice and to spread their passion for God's work throughout the world. Communion was served by Lavern and Marion Godkin and Barry and Karen Hoegy. Offering was taken by John Gillis and Ian Wilbee. This Sunday is anniversary Sunday and the service will be held at the home of Neil and Marie McGavin under the big tent. A hymn-sing will begin things at 9:45 a.m. and the service at 10 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Hawkins from Gorrie- Wroxeter United Churches as guest speaker. There is no service at B I uevale. The WUCC meets tonight June 5 at 8 p.m. upstairs at the church. Joan is attending a United Church educational event in Waterloo from Thursday, June 6 to Monday, June 10, but will be at the anniversary service. She also will be off for continuing education from June 10 - 16. For any urgent pastoral care contact Brian Black. the news. A wonderful buck and doe barbecue was held for Mark Nolan and Lori Beyes at the Lee farm on Saturday evening. Family and friends gathered to enjoy a delicious meal and an interesting question and answer period for the young couple. Congratulations to the couple on their upcoming wedding. Many local and area people were in attendance to celebrate Vista Villa Farms Ltd. 35th anniversary. There were bus tours available to drive by Vista Villa's three production sites and a wonderful buffet supper was served from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. After dinner a video and introductions were made and an evening of dancing followed. Congratulations to Bob and Rose Robinson and their family on their success. The McGavin family was having dual celebrations on the weekend as Neil turned 65 June 1 and Neil and Marie were married 40 years on June 2. The entire family Neil and Marie, Brian and Shelley and family, Cathy and Pat Melady and family, Jeff and Shannon and family and Heather and Brian Kelso and family, Terry and Theresa Johnston, Keith and Bonnie Johnston, Joyce and Ken Nicholson and Liz and Bill Dinsmore enjoyed a lovely weekend at the Hockey Highlands Inn and Convention Centre at Orangeville. There were 29 family members in a attendance who celebrated Saturday evening with dinner and anniversary cake. The family presented Neil and Marie with their old bedroom window, refinished by Heather and made into a family tree picture. They enjoyed hiking and swimming and a leisure time as a family. Congratulations to the McGavins. Chaos erupted on main street in Walton on Sunday evening as an escaped sheep appeared in village. The sheep caused traffic to stop as it wandered up the street, then decided to investigate several backyards. A large dog proceeded to chase it and was last seen headed south of the ball park. If spotted or corralled please call the Lees, 887-6735. Bill and Marie Coutts had daughter Connie for a visit on the weekend. She relieved them of their dog sitting duties. Celebrating birthdays last week were Rob Shortreed, Sister Theresa Ryan, Neil McGavin, Patricia Hackwell and Bill Humphries. Congrats! ATV stolen On June 1 at 4 p.m. OPP were called to a residence on Hydro Line in McKillop over the theft of an ATV. The owner told police that sometime between May 27 and June 1 a red 1982 Honda ACT200 was stolen from a shed located on the property. Anyone who can help solve this theft is asked to call the OPP or Crime Stoppers.
