On Sunday, May 26 Joyce Tipple
and Joan Ritchie hosted a
miscellaneous family shower for
their niece Sheri Huether, who is to
be married Aug. 10. About 60 people
attended at the home of Sheri's
grandmother, Mary Huether. Even
the sun shone making for a very
enjoyable outdoor event and
afternoon.
Members and relatives of the Fox,
Hastings, Bowler, Bauwman,
McDonald and Huether families
attended.
Joan welcomed everyone, then
invited Sheri, her mother Dianne, her
future mother-in-law, Tina
Bauwman, her sister Sandra Huether
and friend Cheryl Adams both
members of the wedding party to sit
at the front.

On Tuesday evening, May 21, the
Brussels Cadet Corp had the annual
inspection and awards evening at
the BM&G Community Centre.
The reviewing party officer was
President Glenn Bridge of the
Brussels Branch 218. Cadets
receiving awards included: Warrant
Officer D. Robin, the Glanville
W.O. award; Cdt. A. Berlet, best
cadet; Cdt. B. Gervais, most
improved; Cdt. S. Moser, best
uniform; Cpl. L. Cyples, Jr. NCO
award.
Best attendance. awards went to
A few contests were played, then
little Krista Clark, Huron Park,
Kaitlin Ritchie and Krista Nesbitt,
all cousins of the bride distributed
the gifts to Sheri and her helpers.
Sheri thanked everyone for the
beautiful gifts for attending and for
the work of arranging it.
Then Aunt Angela Huether, Sarah
Tipple and Jocelyn Holloway, helped
Joyce and Joan serve a lunch of hors
d'oeuvres, punch and coffee, angel
cake, carrot cake, ice cream and
strawberries.
Guests were present from Walton,
Brussels, Seaforth, Bayfield, Port
Albert, Belgrave, Listowel,
Kitchener, Cambridge, London, Port
Rowan, Huron Park, Barrie,
Burlington, Brampton, Sebringville,
Markham, Oakville and Hamilton.

J. Cyples was also presented.
Certificates of Appreciation were

for Royal Canadian Legion Br. 218,
WO2 Pinchir and Flt. Sg. J. Kessel
for their assistance to the,
Cadets.
Special guest was Sergeant Rob
Robbins of the Central Region
Detachment of London who is the
area cadet advisor.
Many family and friends attended
as the Cadets were put through
parade procedures and drills.
The week at Brussels Legion
began with the general meeting on
Monday evening. There were 15 in
attendance.
The Branch donated $100 to the
Girl Guides. Darby Alcorn and
Mady Deitner are to attend
Provincial Guiding camp.
Donations were also approved for
the Brussels Public School track
and field awards and their
proficii-ncy awards.
This was the final meeting of the
Branch year and the new executive
takes charge as of June 1. There are
many committees that need some
extra hands. Call the Branch if
interested in helping.
If you have items for the survival
auction, both live and silent, they
need to be at the Branch by
Thursday, June 6 at the latest.
The Friday night supper of
sausage was enjoyed by many. This
week is hamburg casserole.
Congratulations to Comrade
Andy Overholt and new wife Sarah
Dauphin on their wedding on
Saturday.
In hospital is Comrade Gord
Workman and Doreen Rutledge.
Our thoughts are with them and for
their recovery.

the information day held in Clinton
Branch on Sunday afternoon.
The D-Day Ladies Auxiliary
service was held in Blyth on Sunday
morning. The parade formed at
Blyth Branch 420 and paraded to
Blyth United Church for service.
Members from Blyth, Howick and
Brussels Auxiliary and Legion were
in attendance.
The Decoration Service will be
held Sunday, June 23 at the Brussels
Cemetery. The parade will form at
1:45 p.m. at the rear of the cemetery
and the service begins at 2 p.m.
Members of the local churches,
lodges and the Legion are invited to
participate and attend.
The Legion has the poppy
headstone marker available to
anyone wishing to mark a veteran's
or a member's site. They are $5.

The Brussels Legion Army
Cadets Corp were away on their
year-end trip this past weekend.
They went to Cyprus Lake
Provincial Park in Tobermory along
with Cadets from the Stratford
Army Corp.
During the weekend they hiked.
studied the escarpment, practised
their map and compass navigation
and participated in fun and
games.
On return to the Brussels Legion,
