THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, MAY 29, 2002. Obituaries WILLIAM EDGAR HOWATT Edgar Howatt, formerly of Belgrave, passed away at Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home, Lucknow, on Sunday, May 19, 2002. He was,in his 89th year. Born in East Wawanosh Twp. on Sept. 2, 1913, Edgar was the son of the late William James Howatt and Frances Harrison, and the beloved husband of the late Ferne Plowman. Edgar was a lifelong member of the Westfield Church and also the Loyar Orange Lodge and the Royal Black Perceptory having obtained all the degrees of both. Edgar for many years, starting at the age of 13, had ploughed at many county and international plowing matches and was a lifetime member of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture and Hereford, Yorkshire and Ayrshire Breeder Associations. Edgar will be sadly missed by his children Doreen Taylor and her hus- band Bill, Ivan Howatt and his wife Connie, Dorothy Bogie and her hus- band Melvin, Douglas Howatt and his wife Sherry and Ronald Howatt and his friend Dianne Fetter. He was also loved by his 12 grandchildre- Stephen, Timothy, Pauline, Glen, Marion, Murray, Dianne, Paul, Michael, Jason, Justin and Jenna and 12 great-grandchildren: Brandy, Sheila, Richard, Rebecca, Chantel, Katelynn, Blake, Taarra, Lance, Emily, Colby, and Jarrett; his son-in- law David Webster, sisters-in-law Edna Ruddell, Mildred Becker, Ruth Plowman and Roberta Howatt. Edgar was predeceased by his infant son Gordon, daughter Ruth Webster, brother George and sisters Agnes Sanderson and Sarah Storey. Friends were received by the fam- ily from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Thursday at the Schimanski Family Funeral Home, 401 Albert St., Brussels. A Loyal Orange Lodge and Royal Black Perceptory memorial service was conducted Thursday evening from the funeral home. The funeral service was conducted from Westfield Fellowship Church on Friday, May 24 at 1 p.m. with Don Vair officiating. A remembrance of Edgar's life was given by his granddaughter Marian. Burial was at Blyth Union Cemetery. Carrying a floral tribute was Bill Fenton. Pallbearers were John McDowell, Harvey Snell, John Nixon, Carman Howatt, Paul Popp and Cliff Schultz. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Westfield Fellowship or to Wingham and District Hospital. JEANETTE MARIE HARRIS Jeanette Marie Harris of Blyth passed away suddenly after a valiant battle with cancer on May 23, 2002 at Seaforth Community Hospital. Jeanette was the eldest daughter of Marion Harris and the late Edward Harris. She was the beloved wife of David Onn and much loved mother of Zoellyn, Capucine and Teaguen Onn of Blyth. She was the dear sis- ter of Linda Sherritt (Harris), Caistor Centre, Robert Harris, Oakville, Russell Harris, Nanaimo, B.C. and Colleen Harris, Victoria, B.C. She was the cherished aunt of Grayson and Ayden Sherritt of Caistor Centre as well as many other nieces and nephews. Jeanette was a dedicated Huron County high school teacher who later pursued her interests in natural childbirth, breastfeeding with La Leche League and her own personal spiritual development. Known for her vivacious personal- ity and zest for life, Jeanette will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Funeral services were held at the Beattie-Falconer Funeral Home, 153 High St., Clinton, on Monday, May 27. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, the La Leche League, Canada or the Jeanette Harris Memorial Young Company Fund (Blyth Festival Theatre).
