greet at Duff'sUnitedservice
Home for a few days visiting folks
Barry and Karen Hoegy was daughter
Sherry. While home she had the
opportunity to attend the Taylor-
Henry wedding and visit lots of
Walton friends. She flew back to
Greenville, North Carolina but hopes
to return soon.
Neil and Marie McGavin were
attending a 40th wedding anniversary
of friends in Ottawa and had the
opportunity' to spend time with Bill
and Donna Hamilton. Bill was raised
on what is now the Keith Bachert
farm. Bill is a John Deere man and
fell victim to a few practical jokes by
his New Holland friend, Neil.
It seems Mary Humphries enjoyed
a special treat with her daughters,
according to daughter Wenda. Mary
was taken by Wenda, who is from
Elmwood and Kim and boys, Bryce
and Andrew from Bayfield for supper
to celebrate Mother's Day and
Nursing Week.
They enjoyed a lovely day together
shopping, eating and visiting
together.
Some members of the Walton
Women's Institute attended the 100th
anniversary of Huron East District
Institute. Approximately 61 ladies
from seven institutes gathered at
Ethel Community Hall and enjoyed a
lovely lunch catered by Beth Earl.
From Walton were- Ruth Axtmann,
Marion Godkin, Marjorie
Humphries, Brenda Perrie, Leona
Campbells
Jim and Marie Campbell and
daughter Meagan greeted at Duff's,
Sunday. The celebration of camping
service was an integrated service with
minister, choir, Sunday school
children and congregation taking part.
Brandon McGavin read the call and
sister Abby presented the
corresponding - objects that
represented "Where we can find
God."
Joan Tuchlinsky began by singing
Happy Birthday to Justin Beisinger
and Abby McGavin. Flowers were
placed in memory of Margaret Craig
by the family.
Brian McGavin read the scripture.
As Joan read Psalm 148 — Nadine and
Elise Riggenberg shared their artistic
talents by drawing the psalm's
meaning.
The congregation broke into small
McDonald and Betty McCall.
Ruth Axtmann accepted the
position of education co-ordinator for
Huron East. Congratulations to her.
Off on a mystery tour were Mary
McCall and Mary Humphries. They
travelled by bus to Aylmer,
Tillsonburg and St. Thomas. They
saw an art gallery, a purebred pacer
horse farm and the dairy museum.
They also stopped at the largest
pheasant hatchery in Ontario. This
hatchery collects approximately
1,400 pheasant eggs a day from
March to August. The birds are sold
when they are a year old.
They stayed at the Elmhurst Inn at
Ingersoll and were away Tuesday and
Wednesday.
Off to the theatre in Drayton last
week were Anne Ryan and Marilyn
McDonald. they saw Anything Goes,
a musical/comedy.
Marilyn has a special house guest
right now as her sister Janie is here
from Ottawa. She arrived to join in
the celebrations of George and sister
Barb Tervitt's 50th wedding
anniversary party held on Saturday at
the Wingham Legion.
The Walton Women's Institute held
a successful bake and plant sale at the
Walton Inn on Friday.
Thys DeJong had a wonderful
weekend. He has been chatting on-
line for about seven years and has
met many interesting folks. Around
40 have kept in touch with each other
and have taken the opportunity to try
and meet somewhere. This year the
chance arose to meet in Stratford and
12 were able to attend. They came
from North Dakota, Vancouver,
northern B.C., and Long Island, New
York. They arrived in Stratford on
Friday and stayed the weekend at the
motel.
They travelled to St. Jacobs and
toured the area on Saturday and on
groups groups and discussed where God is
found in everyday life. Many people
recalled times at camp, good times
and friends, and how they
experienced or found God at camp.
Jim Cook and Patty Banks led a
sing-song of old familiar camp songs.
What better way to complete the time
around the campfire, then to be
served a delicious snack of s'mores
made by Shelley McGavin?
The offering was taken by Doug
Fraser and Lavern Godkin and a
special collection was done for Camp
Menesetung. Canadian Tire money,
cash and craft supplies will also be
accepted at this Sunday's service.
The Litany was read by Karen
Hoegy, Barry Hoegy, fteona
McDonald, Olene Dennis, Murray
Dennis, Heidi McClure, Helen
Williamson, Judy Lee and Jo-Ann
Sunday came to Brussels Mennonite
Church for service. Thys sang a solo
during the service for his friends.
They toured the Goderich area
Sunday afternoon before returning to
Stratford. Some of the visitors have
family in Ontario that they will also
visit while here. The people from
Long Island were neighbours of
former NHL player Rod Selling and
were having lunch with him in
Toronto on Monday.
B.J. was able to join the fun
Saturday night at the hotel and the
tour on Sunday.
Thys reports it was wonderful
being able to put fates to the names
and personalities of his on-line
friends.
Celebrating birthdays this past
week were Cathy Melady, Jennifer
McClure, Jeff Grobbink, Joyce
Williamson, Jason Pennington, June
Boneschansker, Dwayne Price,
Wendy Glauser, Justin Beisinger,
Valerie Shortreed, Gerry Ryan and
Gail Moffatt.
McDonald.
The anniversary Sunday will be
June 9 at the farm of Neil and Mane
McGavin. Guest speaker is Jeff
Hawkins and there is no Bluevale
service. A barbecue lunch will be
supplied. Sunday school promotions
will be held on June 9 as well.
This Sunday there will he a board
meeting immediately after church.
