Couple celebrates 50th
Long-time Blyth merchants Jim
and Thelma Wilson celebrated 50
years of marriage with a reception at
Blyth arena on Friday night.
It was May 17, 1952 when Rev.
Glen Eeigle officiated over the
ceremony uniting the former Thelma
Glazier of Hullett Twp., with Jim
Wilson. The bride was the daughter
of Cliff and Evelyn Glazier while
the groom was the son of George
and Mona Wilson.
Attendants for the ceremony,
which was held at the bride's home,
were Lois Dale and Ted Fear. Janet
Brandon was flowergirl.
Following a honeymoon trip to
Niagara Falls the newlyweds moved
to Morris Twp. where they farmed.
They later opened Wilson's Health
and Gift Centre in Blyth, which for a
time they operated in conjunction
with the farm.
They eventually retired from
farming, however, and focussed
their energies on the retail business.
