Sharp corner? No problem
It was the day before the Sunday races at the Walton
motocross track but there was lots of activity. This racer was
one of several who showed up early to receive instruction
on riding technique and take a look at the track.
Unfortunately the weather on raceday Meant that the riders
did not get to put their new skills to the test as the race was

Many Walton area people attended
the Memories of Western Swingin'
and Country Singin' at the Blyth
Memorial Hall. The show was
hosted by Jim Swan and featured
Scott Woods, a champion fiddler
who holds the 1998 and 1999 Grand
Masters Open awards.
Vocalist Tom Leadbeater was
excellent and Chad Wolfe is the
2000 Ontario step dance champion.
He also is a champion fiddle player
as well.
Mary, Murray and Sherri McCall,
Phyllis, Emmerson and Jamie
Mitchell, Ian Wilbee, Leona and Jo-
Ann McDonald, Judy Lee, Campbell
and Edith Wey were just a few of the
local faces in attendance.
The Taylor household began
filling up on Friday as Don's
brothers arrived for brother Manny's
wedding on Saturday. Alberto and
Conches arrived from Mexico and
David and Maria arrived from
Connecticut.
Duff's United Church had a good
attendance to the Mother's Day
service on Sunday. Leona
McDonald greeted the worshippers
who were asked to sit at the front of
the church. The choir also took its
place in the front pews of the
sanctuary.
After the call to worship, Brian
Black and Karla Kale sang a duet.
The Time for the Young at Heart had
the children come together at the
tront and Joan Tuchlinsky talked
about the images of God.
The scripture reader was Karen
Hoegy and Joan's reflection was,
Many Named God.
Darrell Morrison presented the
minute for missions.
The offering was taken by Doug
Fraser and Lavern Godkin.
During the service, Patty Banks
presented Edith Wey with a gift for
her dedication to the choir over the
years. Joan also thanked Phyllis
Mitchell for her violin music
On May 11, at 7:30 p.m. a citizen
called police over a break-in on
Sawmill Road in McKillop.
The officer learned that sometime
in the last day a door leading into a
storage equipment shed was forced
open. An air compressor was stolen.
Also during the break-in the thieves
damaged several other items.
They brought many nieces and
nephews along including Dora,
Miguel, Marisol, Mickey, Yani,
Kenia, Mickey Jr., Monche, Carlos
and Jonathon. They enjoyed meeting
new cousin, Emma, Dan and Sherri's
daughter.
They treated Dan and Sherri to
Mexican cooking and attended
Manny and Andrea Henry's wedding
on Saturday. They went to Manny
and Andrea's new home for brunch
and opening of gifts on Sunday.
Lots of other Walton area people
were in attendance at the wedding
and we congratulate Manny and
Andrea on starting their new life
together.
Attending from Kenora were Jim
Clark, wife Fayelynn and daughter
Taylor. Jim was part of the wedding
party and had the opportunity to visit
with dad, Bruce Clark, and brother
Greg and wife Jen and boys of
Walkerton.
The Grade 8 class from Seaforth
Public School was off on a
graduation trip last week. They were
at Camp Celtic at Lion's Head from
Tuesday to Friday. Area boys
attending were Adam McClure,
Andrew McDonald, and lots of area
others.
Walton area residents were
saddened to hear of the passing of
long-time Walton resident Margaret
Craig. Our condolences to son,
Graeme and Helen Craig and
contributions to the many
services.
Announcements included
reminders of the meeting tonight,
May 15, at 7 p.m., concerning the
response to the Remit and the
Bearing Faithful Witness (Christian-
Jewish relations) form. All board
members are urged to attend.
Sunday's service will celebrate
camping in the United Church.
Dress is casual and the service will
be held downstairs. It will be an
experience that offers a way for
children, youth and families to grow
spiritually.
The Camp Menesetung wish list
would appreciate items such as
Canadian Tire money, fabric dye,
plastic ice cream pails with lids,
new ziplock bags, sponges, lace,
ribbon, paint brushes, craft supplies,
tapes, balloons, balls of all types,
power bars, night lights, umbrellas,
flannelette sheets, blankets,
Tupperware, dish cloths, tea towels,

Margery, Steven, Kathy Huether
and boys spent the weekend in
Hamilton. Matthew Huether was
playing in a hockey tournament on a
Triple A team based out of the
Listowel area. The players were
chosen for this team from the Huron
Perth area.
Visiting with Ross and Marg
Bennett were son Peter, Louanne
and Emily from Collingwood on
Saturday.
A, surprise visitor to Mary
Humphries on Sunday was a long-
time western friend Agnes Hislop,
from Red Deer, Alberta. She
dropped in for an afternoon visit.
Matt Lee conducted a motocross
school and had approximately 30
participants. His business, Absolute
Technique, is teaching riders the
finer points of riding motocross. It
was a good day for them and the
weather was great.
It was not so great the next day for
the Provincial Motocross race that
was being hosted at the Lee farm.
The rainy weather forced the
cancellation of the entire race day,
but hopefully the weather for the
June race will be better.
Mother's Day Brunch was
absolutely delicious at the Walton
Inn on Sunday. Lots of families
including Gary and Kelly McNichol,
Kelly and Sharon Dalton, Stan and
cookies - label kind and date
baked.
These items can be brought to the
church and will be looked after from
there, by May 19 please.
Four youths from the
congregation are attending London
Conference from May 24 - 26. They
are Cassandra Banks, Justin
Biesinger, Laura and Bethany
Black.
Sunday school promotions will be
held June 9 at the anniversary
service.
Joan will be away for Continuing
Education from Monday, May 20 to
Monday, May 27. Three of those
days will be spent at London
Conference.
Greeters for this Sunday are Jim
and Marcie Campbell.
Donna McClure, Mabel Willis, Bill
and Marie Coutts, Margery Huether,
Leona McDonald, Mary Humphries,,
Howard and Audrey Hackwell, Anne
Ryan, Bonnie, Jen, Tanya Rae, and
Doug and Marjory Fraser and other
visitors raved about how wonderful
everything was.
Anne Ryan was also invited to son
Mike's and Kathy and family in
Goderich on Mother's Day. Joining
them for supper was also Kim Kruse
and boys.
The Institute ladies are having a
plant and bake sale on Saturday at

their meeting is May 22 at Mary
Humphries' home at 7:30 p.m. with
a surprise speaker.
Celebrating birthdays this past
week was Scott McNaughton, Scott

Wey, Tracey Lee and Jim Cook.
