Blyth UCW met in the church par-
lour Tuesday, April 30 at 2 p.m, with
15 people present.
Mad East and Lorna Fraser
opened with the worship.
Emily Phillips gave the study on
Guatemala. This country in Central
America has had 36 years of war.
Eighty per cent of the wealth, land
and army is controlled by a elite
minority.
The women,- who were at the bot-
tom of the social scale, have been
able to sell their produce and sewing
to provide an income for themselves.
As well, they are learning to read, to
understand good health and the
Christian faith.
Marilyn Craig presided for the
business portion. The dishwasher
committee was authorized to meet
with the property committee regard-
ing the new dishwasher.
There will be a campsite, experi-
ence on June 10 at 11 Camp
Menesetung. It will be potluck with
registration at 9 a.m.
Bring your own dishes and lawn
chair. Huron West UCW is putting
out food.
The next meeting is May 28 at 8
p.m. Bring your mother or a friend.
Also, bring a glue gun, if you have
one.
Lunch was served by Marian
Young and Joann MacDonald.
W. HARVEY BRYANS
W. Harvey Bryans of London
passed away at Parkwood Hospital,
London on Monday, April 29, 2002.
He was in his 90th year.
He was the beloved husband of
Cora B. (Dickson) Bryans, and lov-
ing father of Margaret (Jim Knight)
of London and Beverley (Walter
Armstrong) of St. Thomas. He was
the special grandfather of Kristen.
Bryans and great-grandfather to
Morgan Bryans of St. Thomas.
Mr. Bryans was predeceased by an
infant daughter and his brothers,
Stuart and Jack.
He is also survived by his siqei -
in-law, Helen Bryans Of Mitchell
and Mary Bryans of Brussels.
Friends were received Wednesday
at the Millard George Funeral
Home, London, where the complete
service was held Thursday, May 2
with Rev. Farquhar MacKinnon of
Metropolitan. United Church offici-
ating. Interment was in Mount
Pleasant Cemetery, London.
A Masonic service was held
Wednesday evening by St. John's
Lodge No. 209 AF &AM.
