Knox marks camping Sunday FROM AUBURN L. Haines hosts Silver Tops Auburn-Silver Tops enjoyed their dinners on Wednesday, May 1 at Stickers Restaurant. From there they went to Lois Haines home. President Margaret Hildebrand conducted a short business meeting. Different ideas were given for future meetings. Lois Haines gave an interesting reading, Wrinkles. Elva Armstrong spoke on Grandad's inventions. Baby pictures, which the members had brought, were passed and everyone tried to guess who was who. Some were not too difficult while others were a complete failure. A man's name contest was played followed by a Hats act. Lois Haines brought several hats and members wore them. Carol Daer found herself leading a small orchestra as appropriate music was played. Ethel Ball gave a contest on Canada. The title should be "what Canadians don't know fabout Canada." Lloyd McClinchey, who has been a dairy farmer for years, spoke on Cow for sale. It was national camping Sunday on May 5 celebrated by Knox United congregation. Prelude with Bernice Gross, organist, welcomed all followed by words from Rev. Paul Ross. Give Me Oil in My Lamp was sung followed by prayer. Scripture was from Matthew 16. In this Christ asked the disciples who they thought He was and Peter replied "Thou art Christ, the son of the living God." Then Jesus told him Peter, I shall build my church on this rock and the kingdom of God will be there. 0 Worship the Lord was sung. Barbara Knox, chairperson of Camp Menesetung board of directors, came to the front. She and Rev. Ross spoke about camp. A number have had children Samuel, topic Bible Study was held on April 30 at Ethel Ball's home. Lois Haines was the capable pianist for the hymn-sing which was led by Rev. Paul Ross. Bible study continued from Samuel I: 10-12. In this Saul changes as he received God's spirit and became king of the Israelites. Samuel has the king anointed and tells the people of the king's duties Paul Cartwright and his mom, Grace, celebrated their birthdays at Paul's parents' home in Auburn, April 28. Paul is turning 40 and his mom 39 and holding. Paul's Uncle Howard composed a poem of his life and times. It was well documented and enjoyed by all. - Aunts and uncles came from Stratford, Amberley, Goderich, Vanastra and Blyth. Ethel Ball and her son Daryl have attend it and all have enjoyed their time there. She spoke about the changes through the years and of the various expenses. She also told about assistance that has been given in caring for the cabins and in teaching through the years. It is a very worthwhile endeavour and help is still needed and given. The hymn I've Got Peace Like a River was sung. Rev. Ross gave prayers of thankS. Offering was received by Mrs. L. Plaetzer and Mrs. A. McDowell and presented with the Sunday school at the altar. Hoffman, to Sandi Klatz. It was a beautiful wedding and they had an enjoyable trip. Ethel and Daryl went by plane and were there in about three hours. A number of Auburnites attended the Friday dinner at Blyth Anglican Church on May 3. It was my lucky day as I won a flower and bird for my flower box or bed. The guest speaker was a lady who works in London CNIB. There are things that one with eye trouble has to learn. The speaker was excellent and certainly taught a good lesson on the need and importance of eye' care. She stayed later to answer any questions. - A number of Auburnites have been spending time visiting greenhouses.
