Auburn-Silver Tops enjoyed their
dinners on Wednesday, May 1 at
Stickers Restaurant.
From there they went to Lois
Haines home.
President Margaret Hildebrand
conducted a short business meeting.
Different ideas were given for future
meetings.
Lois Haines gave an interesting
reading, Wrinkles. Elva Armstrong
spoke on Grandad's inventions.
Baby pictures, which the members
had brought, were passed and
everyone tried to guess who
was who. Some were not too
difficult while others were a
complete failure.
A man's name contest was played
followed by a Hats act.
Lois Haines brought several hats
and members wore them. Carol Daer
found herself leading a small
orchestra as appropriate music was
played.
Ethel Ball gave a contest on
Canada. The title should be "what
Canadians don't know fabout
Canada."
Lloyd McClinchey, who has been
a dairy farmer for years, spoke on
Cow for sale.

It was national camping Sunday
on May 5 celebrated by Knox
United congregation.
Prelude with Bernice Gross,
organist, welcomed all followed by
words from Rev. Paul Ross.
Give Me Oil in My Lamp was sung
followed by prayer.
Scripture was from Matthew 16.
In this Christ asked the disciples
who they thought He was and Peter
replied "Thou art Christ, the son of
the living God."
Then Jesus told him Peter, I shall
build my church on this rock and the
kingdom of God will be there.
0 Worship the Lord was sung.
Barbara Knox, chairperson of
Camp Menesetung board of
directors, came to the front. She and
Rev. Ross spoke about camp.
A number have had children
Samuel, topic
Bible Study was held on April 30 at
Ethel Ball's home. Lois Haines was
the capable pianist for the hymn-sing
which was led by Rev. Paul Ross.
Bible study continued from
Samuel I: 10-12. In this Saul
changes as he received God's spirit
and became king of the Israelites.
Samuel has the king anointed and
tells the people of the king's duties
Paul Cartwright and his mom,
Grace, celebrated their birthdays at
Paul's parents' home in Auburn,
April 28. Paul is turning 40 and his
mom 39 and holding.
Paul's Uncle Howard composed a
poem of his life and times. It was
well documented and enjoyed by all. -
Aunts and uncles came from
Stratford, Amberley, Goderich,
Vanastra and Blyth.
Ethel Ball and her son Daryl have
attend it and all have enjoyed their
time there. She spoke about the
changes through the years and of the
various expenses. She also told
about assistance that has been given
in caring for the cabins and in
teaching through the years. It is a
very worthwhile endeavour and help
is still needed and given.
The hymn I've Got Peace Like a
River was sung. Rev. Ross gave
prayers of thankS.
Offering was received by Mrs. L.
Plaetzer and Mrs. A. McDowell and
presented with the Sunday school at
the altar.
I Am the Light of the World was
sung.

of Bible study
and of their duties to the king. If they
remain faithful to God, He will
al' ays be with them, he said.
Rev. Ross closed the meeting with
prayer and the Lord's. Prayer unison.
There has to be a change in the date
for Bible study. Due to an upcoming
meeting for Rev. Ross - it has to be
on Wednesday, May 8 and will be at
Lois Haines' home.
returned from a trip to Mexico. They
attended the wedding of her
grandson, Robert. Hoffman, to Sandi
Klatz. It was a beautiful wedding and
they had an enjoyable trip.
Ethel and Daryl went by plane and
were there in about three hours.
A number of Auburnites attended
the Friday dinner at Blyth Anglican
Church on May 3. It was my lucky
day as I won a flower and bird for my
flower box or bed.
The guest speaker was a lady who
works in London CNIB.
There are things that one with eye
trouble has to learn. The speaker was
excellent and certainly taught a good
lesson on the need and importance of
eye' care.
She stayed later to answer any
questions. -
A number of Auburnites have been
spending time visiting greenhouses.

Brenda Finlayson, left, and her mother Kay Hesselwood
were among the shoppers hunting for bargains at the
Auburn community yard sale on Saturday. (Vicky Bremner photo)
