Congregants observe Camping Sunday
The congregation at Londesboro
United Church observed National
Campirig Sunday on May 5 , with an
emphasis on the closest United
Church supported camp, Camp
Menesetung. For the next several
weeks Canadian Tire money can be
placed on the. offering plates to be
used to buy supplies for the general
running of the camp.
Barbara Hicks of Clinton has been
the director of Camp Menesetung for
20 years and her nickname -is
Spoony. Her message is that God's
love never hurts; it is like a spoon
which picks one up and cradles them
in the hollow. This is unlike,a knife
which cuts or a fork which jabs.
In Rev. Paul Ross's storybag the
children 'found a large wooden
spoon.

LONDESBORO
Hopefully reading this column is
not your first reminder that this
Sunday is Mother's Day. Although
there can be any number of moments
along the way that make being a
mother special, it brings a warm and
fuzzy feeling to be remembered on
that one day each year.

Building Youth Pillars. By helping
young people grow- in their faith at
camp, these young folk will return to
their communities and churches and
be pillars and leaders.
Matthew 16: 13-20 was a
verification of Peter's role as the first
leader, or pillar, of the early
Christian' church.
Rev. Ross, as- a radio talk show
host, interviewed Barb Knox, the
chairperson of the board of directors
for Camp Menesetung. During this
most informative interview, Barb
spoke about the camping experience
in general, staffing, the facility itself
and its current upgrading, and how
individuals can help. Ms Knox
finished the interview with a poem,
Jesus, a Camper.
During a commercial break,

you don't miss this entertaining
